  abstract  = {A procedure for the evaluation of the failure probability of elastic-plastic thin shell structures is presented. The procedure involves a deterministic limit and shakedown analysis for each probabilistic iteration which is based on the kinematical approach and the use the exact Ilyushin yield surface. Based on a direct definition of the limit state function, the non-linear problems may be efficiently solved by using the First and Second Order Reliabiblity Methods (Form/SORM).   abstract  = {Summary: This paper presents a methodology to study and understand the mechanics of stapled anastomotic behaviors by combining empirical experimentation and finite element analysis. Performance of stapled anastomosis is studied in terms of leakage and numerical results which are compared to in vitro experiments performed on fresh porcine tissue. Results suggest that leaks occur between the tissue and staple legs penetrating through the tissue.},

  abstract  = {Mechatronics consist of the integration of mechanical engineering, electronic integration and computer science/ engineering. These broad fields are essential for robotic systems, yet it makes it difficult for the researchers to specialize and be experts in all these fields. Collaboration between researchers allow for the integration of experience and specialization, to allow optimized systems. Collaboration between the European countries and South Africa is critical, as each country has different resources available, which the other countries might not have. Applications with the need for approval of any restrictions, can also be obtained easier in some countries compared to others, thus preventing the delays of research. Some problems that have been experienced are discussed, with the Robotics Center of South Africa as a possible solution.},

Aachener Softwaretag in der Wasserwirtschaft <2, 2009, Aachen>. Zusammenfassung [des Autors] Unter Ber{\"u}cksichtigung vorhandener {\"o}rtlicher Gegebenheiten und technischer Einrichtungen (wie z.B. Verkehrstrassen, Versorgungsleitungen, Einlaufbauwerke etc.) hat die Dh{\"u}nn innerhalb der Deiche mehr Bewegungsfreiheit erhalten. Der Hochwasserschutz bleibt dabei weiterhin gew{\"a}hrleistet. Die Geh{\"o}lzstrukturen im Uferbereich wurden weitgehend erhalten. Dort, wo die Bauarbeiten eine Entfernung von Geh{\"o}lzen erforderlich machten, wurden die Fl{\"a}chen bewusst einer eigenst{\"a}ndigen Entwicklung {\"u}berlassen. In diesen Bereichen werden sich im Laufe der Zeit von selbst neue Pflanzen und Geh{\"o}lze ansiedeln. Mit der naturnahen Umgestaltung der Dh{\"u}nn als "Starthilfe" kann die Natur die weitere Entwicklung {\"u}bernehmen: Tier- und Pflanzenarten k{\"o}nnen sich das ehemals kanalartig ausgebaute Gew{\"a}sser "zur{\"u}ckerobern", Fische und Kleintiere finden Nahrung und Ruhepl{\"a}tze. F{\"u}r die Menschen entsteht ein wertvoller Erholungsraum mitten in der Stadt. Trotz zahlreicher Akteure und erheblicher Restriktionen konnte das Projekt in relativ kurzer Zeit realisiert werden. Dem Wupperverband (Untere Lichtenplatzer Str. 100; 42289 Wuppertal) und hier vor allem den Projektleitern Herrn Arnim L{\"u}tzenberger und Herrn Andreas Oberborbeck sei an dieser Stelle besonders f{\"u}r eine hervorragende Zusammenarbeit gedankt.},

Aachener Softwaretag in der Wasserwirtschaft <1, 2007, Aachen> 1 S. : Bereits seit Jahrzehnten werden verschiedenste Injektions-Verfahren, welche teilweise aus den Vereinigten Staaten lizenziert wurden, in Deutschland angewendet, um Abwasserkan{\"a}le zu ert{\"u}chtigen. Die Resultate sind teilweise sehr umstritten, nicht zuletzt aufgrund unzureichender Materialeigenschaften in den Anfangsjahren der Anwendung. Viele Methoden sind dar{\"u}ber v{\"o}llig aus dem Gebrauch gekommen und haben manchmal das ganze Verfahrensprinzip in Verruf gebracht. Mittlerweile wurden sowohl Verfahren als auch Materialien weiterentwickelt und sind nun in der Lage auch den aktuellen strengen und praxisnahen Testverfahren mittels S{\"a}uleninjektionsversuchen zur Beurteilung Umweltvertr{\"a}glichkeit zu gen{\"u}gen. Es wird ein kurzer {\"U}berblick {\"u}ber die derzeit am Markt befindlichen/{\"u}blichen Regelwerke, Verfahren und Materialien gegeben und die Grenzen und M{\"o}glichkeiten im Rahmen der Kanalsanierung aufgezeigt.},
