An alternative approach is the so-called passive-dynamic walking, where the gait makes use of the inertia and dynamic stability of the robot. In this paper we describe our ongoing work of combining the principles of passive-dynamic walking on the fully-actuated biped robot Nao, which is also deployed for robotic soccer applications. We present a simple controller that allows the robot to stably rock sidewards, showing a closed limit-cycle. We discuss first results of superimposing a forward motion on the sidewards motion. Especially, whole-body imaging at 7 T and higher is therefore challenging. Recently, an acquisition scheme called time-interleaved acquisition of modes has been proposed to tackle the inhomogeneity problems in high-field MRI. The basic premise is to excite two (or more) different Burn:x-wiley:07403194:media:MRM23081:tex2gif-stack-1 modes using static radiofrequency shimming in an interleaved acquisition, where the complementary radiofrequency patterns of the two modes can be exploited to improve overall signal homogeneity. In this work, the impact of time-interleaved acquisition of mode on image contrast as well as on time-averaged specific absorption rate is addressed in detail. Time-interleaved acquisition of mode is superior in Burn:x-wiley:07403194:media:MRM23081:tex2gif-stack-2 homogeneity compared with conventional radiofrequency shimming while being highly specific absorption rate efficient. Time-interleaved acquisition of modes can enable almost homogeneous high-field imaging throughout the entire field of view in PD, T2, and T2*-weighted imaging and, if a specified homogeneity criterion is met, in T1-weighted imaging as well.}, language = {en} } @article{KoehlerRoepkeWolf2021, author = {K{\"o}hler, Klemens and R{\"o}pke, Ren{\´e} and Wolf, Martin}, title = {Through a mirror darkly - On the obscurity of teaching goals in game-based learning in IT security}, series = {ISAGA 2019: Simulation Gaming Through Times and Disciplines}, journal = {ISAGA 2019: Simulation Gaming Through Times and Disciplines}, publisher = {Springer}, address = {Cham}, doi = {10.1007/978-3-030-72132-9_6}, pages = {61 -- 73}, year = {2021}, abstract = {Teachers and instructors use very specific language communicating teaching goals. This study explores whether this much simpler framework succeeds in achieving the same range of learning outcomes. Method wise a keyword analysis was conducted. The results were threefold: 1. The words used to describe teaching goals in CDGs on IT security education do not reflect the whole range of learning outcomes. 2. The word choice is nevertheless different from common language, indicating an intentional use of language. 3. IT security CDGs use different sets of terms to describe learning outcomes, depending on whether they are awareness, training, or education games. Moreover, available rescue robots are very expensive and the benefits of using them are still limited. In this paper, we present the Scarab robot, an alternative design for a USAR robot. The robot is light weight, humanpackable and its primary purpose is that of extending the rescuer's capability to sense the disaster site. The idea is that a responder throws the robot to a certain spot. The robot survives the impact with the ground and relays sensor data such as camera images or thermal images to the responder's hand-held control unit from which the robot can be remotely controlled.}, language = {en} } @article{LimpertWiesenFerreinetal.2019, author = {Limpert, Nicolas and Wiesen, Patrick and Ferrein, Alexander and Kallweit, Stephan and Schiffer, Stefan}, title = {The ROSIN Project and its Outreach to South Africa}, series = {R\&D Journal}, volume = {35}, journal = {R\&D Journal}, pages = {1 -- 6}, year = {2019}, language = {en} } @inproceedings{FerreinSchifferKallweit2018, author = {Ferrein, Alexander and Schiffer, Stefan and Kallweit, Stephan}, title = {The ROSIN Education Concept - Fostering ROS Industrial-Related Robotics Education in Europe}, series = {ROBOT 2017: Third Iberian Robotics Conference}, booktitle = {ROBOT 2017: Third Iberian Robotics Conference}, publisher = {Springer}, address = {Cham}, isbn = {978-3-319-70836-2}, doi = {10.1007/978-3-319-70836-2_31}, pages = {370 -- 381}, year = {2018}, language = {en} } @article{WolfLuczakSpringeretal.1997, author = {Wolf, Martin and Luczak, Holger and Springer, J. and Simon, S.}, title = {The role of metaphors in computer supported cooperative work}, series = {Proceedings of WWDU '97 Tokyo, Fifth International Scientific Conference on Work with Display Units : November 3 - 5, 1997, Tokyo /}, journal = {Proceedings of WWDU '97 Tokyo, Fifth International Scientific Conference on Work with Display Units : November 3 - 5, 1997, Tokyo /}, editor = {Miyamoto, Hiroyuki}, publisher = {-}, address = {Tokyo}, pages = {191 -- 192}, year = {1997}, language = {en} } @inproceedings{NiemuellerFerreinReuteretal.2015, author = {Niemueller, Tim and Ferrein, Alexander and Reuter, Sebastian and Jeschke, Sabina and Lakemeyer, Gerhard}, title = {The RoboCup Logistics League as a Holistic Multi-Robot Smart Factory Benchmark}, series = {Proceedings of the IROS 2015 Open forum on evaluation of results, replication of experiments and benchmarking in robotics research}, booktitle = {Proceedings of the IROS 2015 Open forum on evaluation of results, replication of experiments and benchmarking in robotics research}, pages = {3 S.}, year = {2015}, abstract = {With autonomous mobile robots receiving increased attention in industrial contexts, the need for benchmarks becomes more and more an urgent matter. Known state-of-the-art research activities like the Dual GCT, the ETO thyristor and the ICT were presented and critically reviewed. A comparison with commercialized solutions identifies the pros and cons of each type of device family. Based on this analysis, the IETO structure is proposed, covering most benefits of each device class. In particular the combination of a MOS-assisted turn-off with a thyristor-based device allows a voltage-controlled MOS switching and the low on-state voltage of the thyristors. The following synthesis of an IETO device stands on a three-dimensional field of optimization spanned by electric, mechanical and thermal aspects. From an electric point of view, the lowest possible parasitic inductance and resistance within the commutation path are optimization criteria. The mechanical construction has to withstand the required contact pressure of multiple kilo Newtons. Finally, thermal borders limit the maximum average current of the device. FEM simulations covering these three aspects are performed for several design proposals. An IETO prototype is constructed and measurements on various test benches attest thermal, mechanical and electric performance. A local decoupling of the external driver stage and the presspack housing is presented by a cable connection. This separation enables a thermal and mechanical independence, which is advantageous in terms of vibrations and thermal cycles including increased reliability. The electric pulse performance of the prototype device is a factor of 3.1 above today''s solutions. In single-pulse measurements, a current up to 1600 A was successfully turned off at 115°C with an active silicon area of 823 mm². One reason for this increased turn-off capability is the extremely low-inductive construction. Additional functionality of the IETO thyristor like over-current self-protection and defined short-circuit failure state are successfully verified.}, language = {en} } @article{BragardConradvanHoeketal.2011, author = {Bragard, Michael and Conrad, M. and van Hoek, H. and De Doncker, R. In this fMRI study we examined the behavioral and neural effects of trigeminal (forehead) and peripheral (hand) pain on visual processing and memory encoding. Cerebral activity was measured in 23 healthy subjects performing a visual categorization task that was immediately followed by a surprise recognition task. During the categorization task subjects received concomitant noxious electrical stimulation on the forehead or hand. Our data show that fear ratings were significantly higher for trigeminal pain. Categorization and recognition performance did not differ between pictures that were presented with trigeminal and peripheral pain. However, object categorization in the presence of trigeminal pain was associated with stronger activity in task-relevant visual areas (lateral occipital complex, LOC), memory encoding areas (hippocampus and parahippocampus) and areas implicated in emotional processing (amygdala) compared to peripheral pain. Further, individual differences in neural activation between the trigeminal and the peripheral condition were positively related to differences in fear ratings between both conditions. Functional connectivity between amygdala and LOC was increased during trigeminal compared to peripheral painful stimulation. With the help of the method "TOR" ("Technical Operations Research"), which was developed at the Chair of Fluid Systems at TU Darmstadt, it is possible to improve the energy efficiency of the whole system by considering all possible design choices programmatically. We show the ability of this systematic design approach with a ventilation system for buildings as a use case example. Based on a Mixed-Integer Nonlinear Program (MINLP) we model the ventilation system. We use binary variables to model the selection of different pipe diameters. Multiple fans are model with the help of scaling laws. The whole system is represented by a graph, where the edges represent the pipes and fans and the nodes represents the source of air for cooling and the sinks, that have to be cooled. At the beginning, the human designer chooses a construction kit of different suitable fans and pipes of different diameters and different load cases. These boundary conditions define a variety of different possible system topologies. It is not possible to consider all topologies by hand. With the help of state of the art solvers, on the other side, it is possible to solve this MINLP. Next to this, we also consider the effects of malfunctions in different components. Therefore, we show a first approach to measure the resilience of the shown example use case. Further, we compare the conventional approach with designs that are more resilient. These more resilient designs are derived by extending the before mentioned model with further constraints, that consider explicitly the resilience of the overall system. We show that it is possible to design resilient systems with this method already in the early design stage and compare the energy efficiency and resilience of these different system designs.}, language = {en} } @inproceedings{ZaehlTheisWolfetal.2023, author = {Z{\"a}hl, Philipp M. and Theis, Sabine and Wolf, Martin and K{\"o}hler, Klemens}, title = {Teamwork in software development and what personality has to do with it - an overview}, series = {Virtual, Augmented and Mixed Reality}, booktitle = {Virtual, Augmented and Mixed Reality}, editor = {Chen, Jessie Y. In contrast to existing neurocomputers the main interest was the realization of a scalable, flexible system, which is capable of computing neural networks of arbitrary topology and scale, with full independence of special hardware from the software's point of view. On the other hand, computational power should be added, whenever needed and flexibly adapted to the requirements of the application. Hardware independence is achieved by a run time system which is capable of using all available computing power, including multiple host CPUs and an arbitrary number of neural coprocessors autonomously. The realization of arbitrary neural topologies is provided through the implementation of the elementary operations which can be found in most neural topologies.}, language = {en} } @inproceedings{BuxbaumSchwarteRingbeck2000, author = {Buxbaum, Bernd and Schwarte, Rudolf and Ringbeck, Thorsten}, title = {Synchronization in spread spectrum laser radar systems based on PMD-DLL}, series = {Laser radar technology and applications V : 26 - 28 April 2000, Orlando, USA. - (SPIE proceedings series ; 4035)}, booktitle = {Laser radar technology and applications V : 26 - 28 April 2000, Orlando, USA. - (SPIE proceedings series ; 4035)}, editor = {Kamerman, Gary W.}, publisher = {SPIE}, address = {Bellingham, Wash.}, isbn = {0-8194-3661-5}, issn = {0038-7355}, pages = {204 -- 216}, year = {2000}, language = {en} } @article{LeiseEsserEichenlaubetal.2021, author = {Leise, Philipp and Eßer, Arved and Eichenlaub, Tobias and Schleiffer, Jean-Eric and Altherr, Lena and Rinderknecht, Stephan and Pelz, Peter F.}, title = {Sustainable system design of electric powertrains - comparison of optimization methods}, series = {Engineering Optimization}, journal = {Engineering Optimization}, publisher = {Taylor \& Francis}, address = {London}, issn = {0305-215X}, doi = {10.1080/0305215X.2021.1928660}, year = {2021}, abstract = {The transition within transportation towards battery electric vehicles can lead to a more sustainable future. To account for the development goal 'climate action' stated by the United Nations, it is mandatory, within the conceptual design phase, to derive energy-efficient system designs. One barrier is the uncertainty of the driving behaviour within the usage phase. This uncertainty is often addressed by using a stochastic synthesis process to derive representative driving cycles and by using cycle-based optimization. To deal with this uncertainty, a new approach based on a stochastic optimization program is presented. This leads to an optimization model that is solved with an exact solver. It is compared to a system design approach based on driving cycles and a genetic algorithm solver. Both approaches are applied to find efficient electric powertrains with fixed-speed and multi-speed transmissions. Hence, the similarities, differences and respective advantages of each optimization procedure are discussed.}, language = {en} } @inproceedings{Huening2021, author = {H{\"u}ning, Felix}, title = {Sustainable changes beyond covid-19 for a second semester physics course for electrical engineering students}, series = {Blended Learning in Engineering Education: challenging, enlightening - and lasting?}, booktitle = {Blended Learning in Engineering Education: challenging, enlightening - and lasting?}, isbn = {978-2-87352-023-6}, pages = {1405 -- 1409}, year = {2021}, abstract = {The course Physics for Electrical Engineering is part of the curriculum of the bachelor program Electrical Engineering at University of Applied Science Aachen. Before covid-19 the course was conducted in a rather traditional way with all parts (lecture, exercise and lab) face-to-face. This teaching approach changed fundamentally within a week when the covid-19 limitations forced all courses to distance learning. All parts of the course were transformed to pure distance learning including synchronous and asynchronous parts for the lecture, live online-sessions for the exercises and self-paced labs at home. Using these methods, the course was able to impart the required knowledge and competencies. Taking the teacher's observations of the student's learning behaviour and engagement, the formal and informal feedback of the students and the results of the exams into account, the new methods are evaluated with respect to effectiveness, sustainability and suitability for competence transfer. Based on this analysis strong and weak points of the concept and countermeasures to solve the weak points were identified. The analysis further leads to a sustainable teaching approach combining synchronous and asynchronous parts with self-paced learning times that can be used in a very flexible manner for different learning scenarios, pure online, hybrid (mixture of online and presence times) and pure presence teaching.}, language = {en} } @article{Heuermann1996, author = {Heuermann, Holger}, title = {Sure Methods of On-Wafer Scattering Parameter Measurements with Self-Calibration Procedures}, pages = {136 -- 145}, year = {1996}, language = {en} } @book{Samm1989, author = {Samm, Doris}, title = {Suche nach skalaren und pseudoskalaren Teilchen am Kernreaktor Merlin der KFA J{\"u}lich}, pages = {109 S. : graph. It builds on the previous chapters about methods to analyse and identify uncertainty and may rely on the availability of technologies for particular systems, such as active components. Robustness aims for the design of technical systems that are insensitive to anticipated uncertainties. Flexibility increases the ability of a system to work under different situations. Resilience extends this characteristic by requiring a given minimal functional performance, even after disturbances or failure of system components, and it may incorporate recovery. The three strategies are described and discussed in turn. Moreover, they are demonstrated on specific technical systems.}, language = {en} } @inproceedings{Gligorevic2013, author = {Gligorevic, Snjezana}, title = {Stochastic modeling of non-stationary channels}, series = {7th European Conference on Antennas and Propagation (EuCAP) : 8 - 12 April 2013, Gothenburg, Sweden}, booktitle = {7th European Conference on Antennas and Propagation (EuCAP) : 8 - 12 April 2013, Gothenburg, Sweden}, publisher = {IEEE}, address = {Piscataway, NJ}, organization = {European Association on Antennas and Propagation}, isbn = {978-1-4673-2187-7 ; 978-88-907018-1-8}, pages = {1677 -- 1681}, year = {2013}, language = {en} } @article{Alt1986, author = {Alt, Helmut}, title = {Steuersenkungsgesetz-Auswirkungen und Berechnung}, series = {Elektrizit{\"a}tswirtschaft}, volume = {Jg. 85}, journal = {Elektrizit{\"a}tswirtschaft}, issn = {0013-5496}, pages = {238 -- 242}, year = {1986}, language = {de} } @article{Alt1987, author = {Alt, Helmut}, title = {Steuersenkungs-Erweiterungsgesetz 1988 zur Gesamtentlastung der Einkommensteuer}, series = {Betriebs-Berater : BB ; Zeitschrift f{\"u}r Recht und Wirtschaft}, volume = {Vol. 42}, journal = {Betriebs-Berater : BB ; Zeitschrift f{\"u}r Recht und Wirtschaft}, number = {H. 32}, issn = {0340-7918}, pages = {2207 -- 2208}, year = {1987}, language = {de} } @article{Alt1989, author = {Alt, Helmut}, title = {Steuerreformgesetz 1990}, series = {Elektrizit{\"a}tswirtschaft}, volume = {Bd. 88}, journal = {Elektrizit{\"a}tswirtschaft}, number = {H. 1/2}, issn = {0013-5496}, pages = {78 -- 83}, year = {1989}, language = {de} } @article{Alt1989, author = {Alt, Helmut}, title = {Steuerreformgesetz 1990}, series = {Elektrizit{\"a}tswirtschaft}, volume = {Jg. 88}, journal = {Elektrizit{\"a}tswirtschaft}, number = {H. 2}, issn = {0947-0581 (E-Journal); 0340-7918 (Print)}, pages = {120 -- 121}, year = {1989}, language = {de} } @inproceedings{MaikeLenzWolf2014, author = {Maike, M{\"u}ller and Lenz, Laura and Wolf, Martin}, title = {Steigerung der Effektivit{\"a}t durch Prozessmodellierungs-Tools - {\"A}nderbarkeit und Transparenz von Prozessen am Beispiel der Business Simulation Apollo 13}, series = {Informatik 2014}, booktitle = {Informatik 2014}, publisher = {Gesellschaft f{\"u}r Informatik e.V.}, address = {Bonn}, isbn = {978-3-88579-626-8}, issn = {1617-5468}, pages = {357 -- 369}, year = {2014}, abstract = {Die Nutzung von Prozessmodellierungsmethoden oder - werkzeugen kann erheblichen Einfluss auf die Effektivit{\"a}t von Prozessen haben.
