  abstract  = {For several thousand years, biotechnology and its associated technical processes have had a great impact on the development of mankind. Based on empirical methods, in particular for the production of foodstuffs and daily commodities, these disciplines have become one of the most innovative future issues. Due to the increasing detailed understanding of cellular processes, production strains can now be optimized. In combination with modern bioprocesses, a variety of bulk and fine chemicals as well as pharmaceuticals can be produced efficiently. In this article, some of the current trends in biotechnology are discussed.},

  abstract  = {It was generally believed that coal sources are not favorable as live-in habitats for microorganisms due to their recalcitrant chemical nature and negligible decomposition. However, accumulating evidence has revealed the presence of diverse microbial groups in coal environments and their significant metabolic role in coal biogeochemical dynamics and ecosystem functioning. The high oxygen content, organic fractions, and lignin-like structures of lower-rank coals may provide effective means for microbial attack, still representing a greatly unexplored frontier in microbiology. Coal degradation/conversion technology by native bacterial and fungal species has great potential in agricultural development, chemical industry production, and environmental rehabilitation. Furthermore, native microalgal species can offer a sustainable energy source and an excellent bioremediation strategy applicable to coal spill/seam waters. Additionally, the measures of the fate of the microbial community would serve as an indicator of restoration progress on post-coal-mining sites. This review puts forward a comprehensive vision of coal biodegradation and bioprocessing by microorganisms native to coal environments for determining their biotechnological potential and possible applications.},

  abstract  = {In many historical centers in Europe, stone masonry is part of building aggregates, which developed when the layout of the city or village was densified. The analysis of such building aggregates is very challenging and modelling guidelines missing. Advances in the development of analysis methods have been impeded by the lack of experimental data on the seismic response of such aggregates. The SERA project AIMS (Seismic Testing of Adjacent Interacting Masonry Structures) provides such experimental data by testing an aggregate of two buildings under two horizontal components of dynamic excitation. With the aim to advance the modelling of unreinforced masonry aggregates, a blind prediction competition is organized before the experimental campaign. Each group has been provided a complete set of construction drawings, material properties, testing sequence and the list of measurements to be reported. The applied modelling approaches span from equivalent frame models to Finite Element models using shell elements and discrete element models with solid elements. This paper compares the first entries, regarding the modelling approaches, results in terms of base shear, roof displacements, interface openings, and the failure modes.},

F{\"u}r Menschen mit Sehbehinderung gibt es bis heute keine M{\"o}glichkeit, sich ohne Hilfe von Familienmitgliedern, Freund:innen oder Pflegepersonal in einem Einkaufszentrum zurechtzufinden. Genau dieses Problem l{\"o}st "NAVON.". Er ist ein intelligenter und smarter Blindenstock, welcher durch Ultraschalldistanzsensoren fr{\"u}hzeitig Hindernisse erkennt und die M{\"o}glichkeit bietet, den Betroffenen durch das Einkaufszentrum zu lotsen. Die Logik des Systems liegt innerhalb des Handgriffs, welcher die wichtigsten Einstellungen bzgl. Sprache und haptischer Bedienelemente steuert. Ebenfalls gibt er dem Betroffenen auch ein haptisches Feedback, um Hindernisse fr{\"u}hzeitig umgehen zu k{\"o}nnen. "NAVON." ist ein wichtiger Ansatz f{\"u}r eine neue Kategorie von Produkten und Blindenst{\"o}cken. Dar{\"u}ber hinaus birgt das Konzept auch weitere Potenziale f{\"u}r {\"o}ffentliche Geb{\"a}ude ({\"A}mter, Krankenh{\"a}user, etc..).},

Dabei interagieren die Spieler:innen mittels Dialogen mit den Bewohner:innen der Fantasiewelt und l{\"o}sen R{\"a}tsel, die die Geschichte enth{\"u}llen. Durch Analogien zwischen der Fantasiewelt und den sozialen Medien wird die Funktionsweise und der Einfluss der Plattformen auf die Menschen und die Gesellschaft verdeutlicht.
