Nanotubular TMV scaffolds allow a dense immobilization of precisely positioned enzymes with retained activity. To demonstrate feasibility of this new strategy, a penicillin sensor has been developed by coupling a penicillinase with virus particles as a model system. The developed field-effect penicillin biosensor consists of an Al-p-Si-SiO₂-Ta₂O₅-TMV structure and has been electrochemically characterized in buffer solutions containing different concentrations of penicillin G. In addition, the morphology of the biosensor surface with virus particles was characterized by scanning electron microscopy and atomic force microscopy methods. The sensors possessed a high penicillin sensitivity of ~ 92 mV/dec in a nearly-linear range from 0.1 mM to 10 mM, and a low detection limit of about 50 µM. The long-term stability of the penicillin biosensor was periodically tested over a time period of about one year without any significant loss of sensitivity. The biosensor has also been successfully applied for penicillin detection in bovine milk samples.}, language = {en} } @article{PoghossianIngebrandtYeungetal.2004, author = {Poghossian, Arshak and Ingebrandt, S. and Yeung, C.-K. and Offenh{\"a}usser, A. and Sch{\"o}ning, Michael Josef}, title = {Microsensors based on ion-sensitive field-effect transistors for biomedical applications}, series = {Biomedizinische Technik. 49 (2004), H. 2}, journal = {Biomedizinische Technik. 49 (2004), H. 2}, isbn = {0932-4666}, pages = {1036 -- 1037}, year = {2004}, language = {en} } @article{PoghossianIngebrandtOffenhaeusseretal.2009, author = {Poghossian, Arshak and Ingebrandt, S. and Offenh{\"a}usser, A. and Sch{\"o}ning, Michael Josef}, title = {Field-effect devices for detecting cellular signals}, series = {Seminars in Cell \& Developmental Biology. 20 (2009), H. 1}, journal = {Seminars in Cell \& Developmental Biology. 20 (2009), H. 1}, publisher = {Elsevier}, address = {Amsterdam}, isbn = {1096-3634}, pages = {41 -- 48}, year = {2009}, language = {en} } @article{PoghossianIngebrandtAbouzaretal.2007, author = {Poghossian, Arshak and Ingebrandt, S. and Abouzar, Maryam H. and Sch{\"o}ning, Michael Josef}, title = {Label-free detection of charged macromolecules by using a field-effect-based sensor platform: Experiments and possible mechanisms of signal generation}, series = {Applied Physics A: Materials Science \& Processing. 87 (2007), H. 3}, journal = {Applied Physics A: Materials Science \& Processing. 87 (2007), H. 3}, isbn = {0947-8396}, pages = {517 -- 524}, year = {2007}, language = {en} } @article{PoghossianGeisslerSchoening2019, author = {Poghossian, Arshak and Geissler, Hanno and Sch{\"o}ning, Michael Josef}, title = {Rapid methods and sensors for milk quality monitoring and spoilage detection}, series = {Biosensors and Bioelectronics}, volume = {140}, journal = {Biosensors and Bioelectronics}, number = {Article 111272}, publisher = {Elsevier}, address = {Amsterdam}, issn = {0956-5663}, doi = {10.1016/j.bios.2019.04.040}, year = {2019}, language = {en} } @article{PoghossianCherstvySchoening2004, author = {Poghossian, Arshak and Cherstvy, A. and Sch{\"o}ning, Michael Josef}, title = {Possibilities and limitations of label-free detection of DNA hybridization with field-effect based devices}, series = {Digest of technical papers : September 12 - 15, 2004, Rome, Italy, Pontificia Universitas Sancto Thoma Aquinate in Urbe / [conference chairperson: C.
