Its main advantage is it offers a digital point-to-point plugand-play interface for any type of device or application. This simplifies the communication between devices and increases productivity with its different features like self-parametrization and maintenance. However, its complete potential is not always used. The aim of this paper is to create an Arduino based framework for the development of generic IO-Link devices and increase its implementation for rapid prototyping. By generating the IO device description file (IODD) from a graphical user interface, and further customizable options for the device application, the end-user can intuitively develop generic IO-Link devices. The peculiarity of this framework relies on its simplicity and abstraction which allows to implement any sensor functionality and virtually connect any type of device to an IO-Link master. This work consists of the general overview of the framework, the technical background of its development and a proof of concept which demonstrates the workflow for its implementation.}, language = {en} } @inproceedings{ThurnGebhardt2017, author = {Thurn, Laura and Gebhardt, Andreas}, title = {Arousing Enthusiasm for STEM: Teaching 3D Printing Technology}, series = {Conference Proceedings: New Perspectives in Science Education}, booktitle = {Conference Proceedings: New Perspectives in Science Education}, publisher = {liberiauniversitaria.it}, address = {Padua}, isbn = {978-88-6292-847-2}, pages = {87 -- 92}, year = {2017}, language = {en} } @inproceedings{StoebeHoefkenSchubaetal.2013, author = {St{\"o}be, Rolf and H{\"o}fken, Hans-Wilhelm and Schuba, Marko and Breuer, Michael}, title = {Artificial ageing of mobile devices using a simulated GSM/GPRS network}, series = {Eighth International Conference on Availability, Reliability and Security (ARES) : 2-6 Sept. 2013, Regensburg}, booktitle = {Eighth International Conference on Availability, Reliability and Security (ARES) : 2-6 Sept. 2013, Regensburg}, publisher = {IEEE}, pages = {493 -- 497}, year = {2013}, language = {en} } @inproceedings{SchaenzleAltherrEdereretal.2015, author = {Sch{\"a}nzle, Christian and Altherr, Lena and Ederer, Thorsten and Lorenz, Ulf and Pelz, Peter F.}, title = {As good as it can be: Ventilation system design by a combined scaling and discrete optimization method}, series = {Proceedings of FAN 2015}, booktitle = {Proceedings of FAN 2015}, pages = {1 -- 11}, year = {2015}, abstract = {The understanding that optimized components do not automatically lead to energy-efficient systems sets the attention from the single component on the entire technical system. At TU Darmstadt, a new field of research named Technical Operations Research (TOR) has its origin. It combines mathematical and technical know-how for the optimal design of technical systems. We illustrate our optimization approach in a case study for the design of a ventilation system with the ambition to minimize the energy consumption for a temporal distribution of diverse load demands. By combining scaling laws with our optimization methods we find the optimal combination of fans and show the advantage of the use of multiple fans.}, language = {en} } @inproceedings{NiemuellerLakemeyerFerrein2013, author = {Niem{\"u}ller, Tim and Lakemeyer, Gerhard and Ferrein, Alexander}, title = {Aspects of integrating diverse software into robotic systems extended abstract}, series = {ICRA 2013 - 8th Workshop on Software Development and Integration in Robotics (SDIR), Karlsruhe, Germany}, booktitle = {ICRA 2013 - 8th Workshop on Software Development and Integration in Robotics (SDIR), Karlsruhe, Germany}, pages = {1 -- 2}, year = {2013}, language = {en} } @inproceedings{LorenzAltherrPelz2020, author = {Lorenz, Imke-Sophie and Altherr, Lena and Pelz, Peter F.}, title = {Assessing and Optimizing the Resilience of Water Distribution Systems Using Graph-Theoretical Metrics}, series = {Operations Research Proceedings 2019}, booktitle = {Operations Research Proceedings 2019}, editor = {Neufeld, Janis S. and Buscher, Udo and Lasch, Rainer and M{\"o}st, Dominik and Sch{\"o}nberger, J{\"o}rn}, publisher = {Springer}, address = {Cham}, isbn = {978-3-030-48439-2}, doi = {10.1007/978-3-030-48439-2_63}, pages = {521 -- 527}, year = {2020}, abstract = {Water distribution systems are an essential supply infrastructure for cities. Given that climatic and demographic influences will pose further challenges for these infrastructures in the future, the resilience of water supply systems, i.e. their ability to withstand and recover from disruptions, has recently become a subject of research. To assess the resilience of a WDS, different graph-theoretical approaches exist. Next to general metrics characterizing the network topology, also hydraulic and technical restrictions have to be taken into account. In this work, the resilience of an exemplary water distribution network of a major German city is assessed, and a Mixed-Integer Program is presented which allows to assess the impact of capacity adaptations on its resilience.}, language = {en} } @inproceedings{FredebeulKreinHaunert2008, author = {Fredebeul-Krein, Markus and Haunert, Martina}, title = {Assessing the effectiveness of price cap regimes for the regulation of fixed telephony markets: has it been successful in achieving competition? : preliminary draft / by Markus Fredebeul-Krein and Martina Haunert. 19th European Regional ITS Conference of the International Telecommunications Society, September 17-19, 2008 Rome, Italy}, year = {2008}, abstract = {1.
