Bereits nach der Macht{\"u}bernahme der islamischen Republik im Jahr 1979 wird die iranische Bev{\"o}lkerung durch das brutale Regime unterdr{\"u}ckt und zum Schweigen gezwungen. Dieser Druck hat sich lange aufgestaut und nun gibt es seit Jahren in gr{\"o}ßeren Abst{\"a}nden Proteste gegen die Regierung. Der gewaltsame Tod der kurdischen Iranerin Mahsā J{\^i}na Amīnī in Polizeigewahrsam am 16.09.2022 hat eine beispiellose Welle des Protests in allen Landesteilen Irans ausgel{\"o}st. Ihr Protest wird von Frauen angef{\"u}hrt und hat sich in eine beeindruckende Welle des Widerstands und der Rebellion entwickelt. Die unterschiedlichen Medien in diesem Projekt wie Dokumentarfotografie, Illustration, Projektion und Texte geben Betrachter:innen einen Eindruck der unmittelbaren Wirkung der revolution{\"a}ren Ereignisse und der Reaktion des totalit{\"a}ren Regimes auf die Betroffenen.},

Die bisherige Forschung fokussiert sich oft auf die Nutzung dieser Zucker zur Gewinnung von Ethanol. Daneben muss aber auch die stoffliche Nutzung zur Gewinnung von Grundchemikalien ber{\"u}cksichtigt werden. Eine solche Grundchemikalie ist Itakons{\"a}ure. Obwohl die biotechnologische Itacons{\"a}ureproduktion bereits eingehend untersucht und etabliert ist, gestaltet sie sich im Rahmen von Bioraffinerien der zweiten Generation als schwierig, da der {\"u}berwiegend verwendete Produktionsorganismus gegen eine weite Bandbreite von Inhibitoren sensibel ist. Die Herstellung von Itacons{\"a}ure aus Buchenholzhydrolysaten wird im Rahmen der deutschen Lignocellulose-Bioraffinerie entwickelt. Die unbehandelten Hydrolysate erm{\"o}glichen weder das Wachstum von Aspergillus terreus noch die Bildung von Itacons{\"a}ure. Daher werden M{\"o}glichkeiten zur Konditionierung des Hydrolysates mit dem Ziel einer Itacons{\"a}ureproduktion mit hohen Ausbeuten und Konzentrationen vorgestellt.},

Um diese zu gewinnen, wird die Silage gepresst, die organischen S{\"a}uren {\"u}ber Fl{\"u}ssig/Fl{\"u}ssig-Extraktion aus dem Presssaft abgetrenntund mittels chromatographischer Methoden weiter aufgereinigt. Im pr{\"a}sentierten Konzept werden die im Presskuchen enthaltenen Lignocellulosen hydrolysiert und die erhaltenen Monosaccharide zu Ethanol fermentiert. Die Phenols{\"a}uren, die in Gr{\"a}sern die Rolle des Lignins {\"u}bernehmen, k{\"o}nnen simultan mit der Hydrolyse der Polysaccharide enzymatisch abgetrennt und als Nebenprodukt gewonnen werden. Die nach der Abtrennung des Ethanols verbleibenden Fermentationsreststoffe werden f{\"u}r die Herstellung von Biogas verwendet.},

Anders als bei holzigen Rohstoffen erm{\"o}glicht dieser Aufbau aber eine enzymatische Vorbehandlung, mit der die Phenolcarbons{\"a}uren abgespalten werden k{\"o}nnen. Da die bei der Vorbehandlung eingesetzten Enzyme in ihrer nat{\"u}rlichen Funktion synergistisch mit cellulytischen Enzymen zusammenarbeiten, besitzen sie {\"a}hnliche Optima wie die f{\"u}r die Hydrolyse der Polysaccharide eingesetzten Cellulasen und Hemicellulasen. Diese Eigenschaft erm{\"o}glicht die Integration von Vorbehandlung und Hydrolyse in einem einzigen Verfahrensschritt. Durch die Einf{\"u}hrung der enzymatischen Vorbehandlung konnte das in der Literatur bekannte SSF-Verfahren f{\"u}r die Herstellung von Ethanol aus Gr{\"a}sern um die Vorbehandlungsstufe erweitert werden. Das so realisierte simultaneous pretreatment, saccharification and fermentation (SPSF)-Verfahren stellt eine vollst{\"a}ndige Integration der drei f{\"u}r die Nutzung von Lignocellulose n{\"o}tigen Verfahrensschritte in der gr{\"u}nen Bioraffinerie dar.},

Da frischer Grasschnitt nur in den Sommermonaten zur Verf{\"u}gung steht und Gras bei der Lagerung verrottet, wird er unter anderem durch Silierung konserviert. W{\"a}hrend der Silierung wird ein Teil der wasserl{\"o}slichen Kohlenhydrate unter anaeroben Bedingungen zu Milchs{\"a}ure fermentiert. Die Kombination aus Luftabschluss und Ans{\"a}uerung bewirkt die Konservierung der Silage. Silage als weit verbreitetes landwirtschaftliches Erzeugnis ist somit ein potentieller, in großen Mengen verf{\"u}gbarer Lieferant f{\"u}r eine Vielzahl von Substraten f{\"u}r mikrobielle Fermentationen. Diese k{\"o}nnen entweder durch die Hydrolyse der in den Pflanzen enthaltenen Cellulosen und Hemicellulosen oder durch die Verwendung eines Silagepresssaftes nutzbar gemacht werden. Die zu entwickelnden Prozesse sollen die verbleibenden Kohlenhydrate, inklusive der Cellulose und Hemicellulose, sowie die Milchs{\"a}ure nutzen. Die in der Silage enthaltenen Zucker sollen zu Ethanol, Itakons{\"a}ure und Bernsteins{\"a}ure und die Milchs{\"a}ure zu 1,2-Propandiol umgesetzt werden. Anfallende Reststoffe wie Hydrolyser{\"u}ckst{\"a}nde, Presskuchen und Fermentationsr{\"u}ckst{\"a}nde sollen bei allen zu etablierenden Prozessen entweder als Viehfutter verwendet oder der Biogasproduktion zugef{\"u}hrt werden k{\"o}nnen, wodurch eine vollst{\"a}ndige stoffliche und energetische Nutzung der Silage erreicht wird.},

  abstract  = {Gras hat ein hohes Potenzial als nachwachsender Rohstoff. Bei ungeeigneter Lagerung verderben Gr{\"a}ser allerdings innerhalb weniger Tage. Dieser Nachteil kann durch die Silierung des Grasschnittes behoben werden. Eines der wichtigsten in der Silage enthaltenen Produkte ist die Milchs{\"a}ure. Um diese f{\"u}r weitere Aufarbeitungsschritte zug{\"a}nglich zu machen, wird aus der Silage ein Presssaft hergestellt. Die Milchs{\"a}ure wird aus einem Silagepresssaft mittels Extraktion durch ionische Fl{\"u}ssigkeiten isoliert. Dabei wird zum einen eine reine Milchs{\"a}ure hergestellt, die z. B. f{\"u}r die Herstellung von Polymilchs{\"a}ure genutzt werden kann. Zum anderen wird ein weniger aufgereinigter Extrakt gewonnen, der f{\"u}r die fermentative Produktion von L-Lysin und 1,2-Propandiol genutzt werden soll. Im Rahmen des Projekts erfolgt die gentechnische Optimierung von Corynebacterium glutamicum f{\"u}r die Umsetzung von Milchs{\"a}urezu L-Lysin. Die im nach der Pressung verbleibenden Presskuchen enthaltenen Grasfasern bestehen zu einem großen Teil aus Polysacchariden. Diese werden hydrolysiert und die dabei freigesetzten Zucker zu Grundchemikalien wie Ethanol oder Itakons{\"a}ure fermentiert. Im Rahmen einer vollst{\"a}ndigen Nutzung der Silage wird das Raffinat aus der Milchs{\"a}ureextraktion als Mediumsupplement in der Fermentation eingesetzt, was die Zugabe weiterer Medienbestandteile {\"u}berfl{\"u}ssig macht. Die R{\"u}ckst{\"a}nde der Hydrolysen und Fermentationen sollen dar{\"u}berhinaus f{\"u}r die Herstellung von Biogas genutzt werden.},

  abstract  = {Grass silage provides a great potential as renewable feedstock. Two fractions of the grass silage, a press juice and the fiber fraction, were evaluated for their possible use for bioethanol production. Direct production of ethanol from press juice is not possible due to high concentrations of organic acids. For the fiber fraction, alkaline peroxide or enzymatic pretreatment was used, which removes the phenolic acids in the cell wall. In this study, we demonstrate the possibility to integrate the enzymatic pretreatment with a simultaneous saccharification and fermentation to achieve ethanol production from grass silage in a one-process step. Achieved yields were about 53 g ethanol per kg silage with the alkaline peroxide pretreatment and 91 g/kg with the enzymatic pretreatment at concentrations of 8.5 and 14.6 g/L, respectively. Furthermore, it was shown that additional supplementation of the fermentation medium with vitamins, trace elements and nutrient salts is not necessary when the press juice is directly used in the fermentation step.},

  abstract  = {In collaborative research projects, both researchers and practitioners work together solving business-critical challenges. These projects often deal with ETL processes, in which humans extract information from non-machine-readable documents by hand. AI-based machine learning models can help to solve this problem. Since machine learning approaches are not deterministic, their quality of output may decrease over time. This fact leads to an overall quality loss of the application which embeds machine learning models. Hence, the software qualities in development and production may differ. Machine learning models are black boxes. That makes practitioners skeptical and increases the inhibition threshold for early productive use of research prototypes. Continuous monitoring of software quality in production offers an early response capability on quality loss and encourages the use of machine learning approaches. Furthermore, experts have to ensure that they integrate possible new inputs into the model training as quickly as possible. In this paper, we introduce an architecture pattern with a reference implementation that extends the concept of Metrics Driven Research Collaboration with an automated software quality monitoring in productive use and a possibility to auto-generate new test data coming from processed documents in production. Through automated monitoring of the software quality and auto-generated test data, this approach ensures that the software quality meets and keeps requested thresholds in productive use, even during further continuous deployment and changing input data.},

  abstract  = {Companies often build their businesses based on product information and therefore try to automate the process of information extraction (IE). Since the information source is usually heterogeneous and non-standardized, classic extract, transform, load techniques reach their limits. Hence, companies must implement the newest findings from research to tackle the challenges of process automation. They require a flexible and robust system that is extendable and ensures the optimal processing of the different document types. This paper provides a distributed microservice architecture pattern that enables the automated generation of IE pipelines. Since their optimal design is individual for each input document, the system ensures the ad-hoc generation of pipelines depending on specific document characteristics at runtime. Furthermore, it introduces the automated quality determination of each available pipeline and controls the integration of new microservices based on their impact on the business value. The introduced system enables fast prototyping of the newest approaches from research and supports companies in automating their IE processes. Based on the automated quality determination, it ensures that the generated pipelines always meet defined business requirements when they come into productive use.},

  abstract  = {Magnetic nanoparticles (MNP) are investigated with great interest for biomedical applications in diagnostics (e.g. imaging: magnetic particle imaging (MPI)), therapeutics (e.g. hyperthermia: magnetic fluid hyperthermia (MFH)) and multi-purpose biosensing (e.g. magnetic immunoassays (MIA)). What all of these applications have in common is that they are based on the unique magnetic relaxation mechanisms of MNP in an alternating magnetic field (AMF). While MFH and MPI are currently the most prominent examples of biomedical applications, here we present results on the relatively new biosensing application of frequency mixing magnetic detection (FMMD) from a simulation perspective. In general, we ask how the key parameters of MNP (core size and magnetic anisotropy) affect the FMMD signal: by varying the core size, we investigate the effect of the magnetic volume per MNP; and by changing the effective magnetic anisotropy, we study the MNPs' flexibility to leave its preferred magnetization direction. From this, we predict the most effective combination of MNP core size and magnetic anisotropy for maximum signal generation.},

  abstract  = {The ideal combination among biomolecules and nanomaterials is the key for reaching biosensing units with high sensitivity. The challenge, however, is to find out a stable and sensitive film architecture that can be incorporated on the sensor's surface. In this paper, we report on the benefits of incorporating a layer-by-layer (LbL) nanofilm of polyamidoamine (PAMAM) dendrimer and carbon nanotubes (CNTs) on capacitive electrolyte-insulator-semiconductor (EIS) field-effect sensors for detecting urea. Three sensor arrangements were studied in order to investigate the adequate film architecture, involving the LbL film with the enzyme urease: (i) urease immobilized directly onto a bare EIS [EIS-urease] sensor; (ii) urease atop the LbL film over the EIS [EIS-(PAMAM/CNT)-urease] sensor; and (iii) urease sandwiched between the LbL film and another CNT layer [EIS-(PAMAM/CNT)-urease-CNT]. The surface morphology of all three urea-based EIS biosensors was investigated by atomic force microscopy (AFM), while the biosensing abilities were studied by means of capacitance-voltage (C/V) and dynamic constant-capacitance (ConCap) measureaments at urea concentrations ranging from 0.1 mM to 100 mM. The EIS-urease and EIS-(PAMAM/CNT)-urease sensors showed similar sensitivity (∼18 mV/decade) and a nonregular signal behavior as the urea concentration increased. On the other hand, the EIS-(PAMAM/CNT)-urease-CNT sensor exhibited a superior output signal performance and higher sensitivity of about 33 mV/decade. The presence of the additional CNT layer was decisive to achieve a urea based EIS sensor with enhanced properties. Such sensitive architecture demonstrates that the incorporation of an adequate hybrid enzyme-nanofilm as sensing unit opens new prospects for biosensing applications using the field-effect sensor platform.},

  abstract  = {Purpose Globally, a detrimental shift in cardiovascular disease risk factors and a higher mortality level are reported in some black populations. The retinal microvasculature provides early insight into the pathogenesis of systemic vascular diseases, but it is unclear whether retinal vessel calibers and acute retinal vessel functional responses differ between young healthy black and white adults. Methods We included 112 black and 143 white healthy normotensive adults (20-30 years). Retinal vessel calibers (central retinal artery and vein equivalent (CRAE and CRVE)) were calculated from retinal images and vessel caliber responses to flicker light induced provocation (FLIP) were determined. Additionally, ambulatory blood pressure (BP), anthropometry and blood samples were collected. Results The groups displayed similar 24 h BP profiles and anthropometry (all p > .24). Black participants demonstrated a smaller CRAE (158 ± 11 vs. 164 ± 11 MU, p < .001) compared to the white group, whereas CRVE was similar (p = .57). In response to FLIP, artery maximal dilation was greater in the black vs. white group (5.6 ± 2.1 vs. 3.3 ± 1.8\%; p < .001). Conclusions Already at a young age, healthy black adults showed narrower retinal arteries relative to the white population. Follow-up studies are underway to show if this will be related to increased risk for hypertension development. The reason for the larger vessel dilation responses to FLIP in the black population is unclear and warrants further investigation.},
