  abstract  = {This paper considers a paired data framework and discusses the question of marginal homogeneity of bivariate high-dimensional or functional data. The related testing problem can be endowed into a more general setting for paired random variables taking values in a general Hilbert space. To address this problem, a Cram{\´e}r-von-Mises type test statistic is applied and a bootstrap procedure is suggested to obtain critical values and finally a consistent test. The desired properties of a bootstrap test can be derived that are asymptotic exactness under the null hypothesis and consistency under alternatives. Simulations show the quality of the test in the finite sample case. A possible application is the comparison of two possibly dependent stock market returns based on functional data. The approach is demonstrated based on historical data for different stock market indices.},

  abstract  = {Mikrobielle Verunreinigungen von Oberfl{\"a}chen in technischen und medizinischen Systemen sind allgegenw{\"a}rtig. Sie basieren {\"u}blicherweise auf adsorptiven Oberfl{\"a}chenbindungen organischer Komponenten (Proteine und Fette) oder Membrankomponenten aerogener sowie wassergebundener Mikroorganismen. In laufenden Forschungsarbeiten wird eine aktive sowie passive Biomodifikation von Oberfl{\"a}chen zu deren Schutz vor Adsorption von Proteinen und Mikroorganismen verfolgt. Der antimikrobielle Schutz soll dabei sowohl durch die Mikrostrukturierung bzw. Rauheitsanpassung der Oberfl{\"a}chen durch deren Beschichtung mit Mikro-und Nanopartikeln erfolgen. Ferner werden antimikrobielle Enzyme und funktionelle Gruppen auf den Mikropartikeln gebunden, um den Oberfl{\"a}chenschutz zu verst{\"a}rken. In ersten Versuchen wurden quart{\"a}re Ammoniumverbindungen auf eigens synthetisierten superparamagnetischen Eisenoxid-Nanopartikeln (Durchmesser 10 - 30 nm) immobilisiert und die wachstumshemmende Wirkung untersucht. Erste Ergebnisse zeigten, dass eine Konzentration von 10 mg mL⁻¹ der Ammoniumverbindung in einer Wachstumshemmung des verwendeten Gram-negativen Modell-Mikroorganismus E. coli GFPmut2 resultiert. Zurzeit werden synergistisch wirkende Kombinationen von Partikeln mit Proteasen, quart{\"a}ren Ammoniumverbindungen, hydrophoben Oberfl{\"a}chen und mikrostrukturierten Oberfl{\"a}chen als antimikrobieller Schutz untersucht.},

  abstract  = {Bacterial cellulose (BC) is a biopolymer produced by different microorganisms, but in biotechnological practice, Komagataeibacter xylinus is used. The micro- and nanofibrillar structure of BC, which forms many different-sized pores, creates prerequisites for the introduction of other polymers into it, including those synthesized by other microorganisms. The study aims to develop a cocultivation system of BC and prebiotic producers to obtain BC-based composite material with prebiotic activity. In this study, pullulan (PUL) was found to stimulate the growth of the probiotic strain Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG better than the other microbial polysaccharides gellan and xanthan. BC/PUL biocomposite with prebiotic properties was obtained by cocultivation of Komagataeibacter xylinus and Aureobasidium pullulans, BC and PUL producers respectively, on molasses medium. The inclusion of PUL in BC is proved gravimetrically by scanning electron microscopy and by Fourier transformed infrared spectroscopy. Cocultivation demonstrated a composite effect on the aggregation and binding of BC fibers, which led to a significant improvement in mechanical properties. The developed approach for "grafting" of prebiotic activity on BC allows preparation of environmentally friendly composites of better quality.},

  abstract  = {The following article deals with the basic principles of intercultural management and possible improvements in terms of cultural, ethnic and gender diversification. The results are exemplarily applied to a bank located in Germany. The aim of this paper is to find out to what extent intercultural management could improve the productivity of Relatos-Bank in dealing with foreign employees or employees with a different cultural background. To achieve this goal, the authors con-duct a literature research. The main sources of information are books, journal articles and internet sources. It becomes clear that especially the different perceptions of different generations have a potential for conflict, which can be counteracted by applying presented scientific models. Equalizing the salaries of female and male employees and equalizing the rights and distribution of power could also be the key to becoming an open-minded, dynamic and fair organization that is pre-pared for the rapidly changing environment in which it operates.},

  abstract  = {Breast cancer resistance protein (BCRP) is expressed in various tissues, such as the gut, liver, kidney and blood brain barrier (BBB), where it mediates the unidirectional transport of substrates to the apical/luminal side of polarized cells. Thereby BCRP acts as an efflux pump, mediating the elimination or restricting the entry of endogenous compounds or xenobiotics into tissues and it plays important roles in drug disposition, efficacy and safety. Bcrp knockout mice (Bcrp-/-) have been used widely to study the role of this transporter in limiting intestinal absorption and brain penetration of substrate compounds. Here we describe the first generation and characterization of a mouse line humanized for BCRP (hBCRP), in which the mouse coding sequence from the start to stop codon was replaced with the corresponding human genomic region, such that the human transporter is expressed under control of the murine Bcrp promoter. We demonstrate robust human and loss of mouse BCRP/Bcrp mRNA and protein expression in the hBCRP mice and the absence of major compensatory changes in the expression of other genes involved in drug metabolism and disposition. Pharmacokinetic and brain distribution studies with several BCRP probe substrates confirmed the functional activity of the human transporter in these mice. Furthermore, we provide practical examples for the use of hBCRP mice to study drug-drug interactions (DDIs). The hBCRP mouse is a promising model to study the in vivo role of human BCRP in limiting absorption and BBB penetration of substrate compounds and to investigate clinically relevant DDIs involving BCRP.},

Im Rahmen dieser Arbeit konnte auf der Basis vom Holz der Buche, die nach Fichte und Kiefer die dritth{\"a}ufigste Baumart in Deutschland ist und 15\% der deutschen Waldfl{\"a}che ausmacht, die Fraktionierung der polymeren Hauptbestandteile mit niedrigem energetischen Einsatz erreicht werden. Hierbei werden in einem nachgeschalteten Extraktionsprozess die beiden Komponenten Hemicellulose und Lignin in fl{\"u}ssiger Form von der finalen festen Cellulosefraktion abgetrennt. Die Extraktion der Hemicellulose erfolgt durch eine Liquid Hot Water (LHW)-Behandlung. Untersucht wird der katalytische Zusatz anorganischer S{\"a}uren wie H₃PO₄ und H₂SO₄. Im Hinblick auf die weitere Verwertung von Lignin zu aromatischen Synthesebausteinen kommt die Organosolv-Extraktion mit einem Ethanol/Wasser-Gemisch zum Einsatz. Von Vorteil ist die weitere Verwendung beider Stoffstr{\"o}me ohne F{\"a}llungsschritt und nachteiliger Verd{\"u}nnung der Hemicellulose.},

Referring to the "Deutsche Bluthochdruck Liga" this pathology shows a growing trend in our aging society. In order to find novel pharmacological and probably personalized treatments, we want to present a functional approach to study biomechanical properties of a human aortic vascular model. In this method review we will give an overview of recent studies which were carried out with the CellDrum technology [2] and underline the added value to already existing standard procedures known from the field of physiology. Herein described CellDrum technology is a system to measure functional mechanical properties of cell monolayers and thin tissue constructs in-vitro. Additionally, the CellDrum enables to elucidate the mechanical response of cells to pharmacological drugs, toxins and vasoactive agents. Due to its highly flexible polymer support, cells can also be mechanically stimulated by steady and cyclic biaxial stretching.},

  abstract  = {Cytochrom P450 sind H{\"a}m-Proteine, die zur Enzymklasse der Oxidoreduktasen (EC 1.14.xy) geh{\"o}ren. Eine wichtige Reaktion ist die Hydroxylierung nichtaktivierter C-H-Bindungen, die in technischen Systemen von großem Interesse ist. Durch die Verwendung von M-IDA-2-Partikeln ist eine direkte Aufreinigung mit gleichzeitiger Immobilisierung und die Applikation der Enzyme aus dem Zelllysat m{\"o}glich. Damit ist das Verfahren mehr als f{\"u}nf Stunden schneller als die konventionelle Chromatographie und mehr als 80 \% der Aufreinigungszeit wird gespart. Mit dem isolierten nativen Enzym konnte die Plattformchemikalie 9,10-Dihydroxystearins{\"a}ure aus {\"O}ls{\"a}ure hergestellt werden. Unter anderem f{\"u}r die Kunststoffindustrie k{\"o}nnen aus diesem Produkt wichtige Monomere wie z. B. Azelains{\"a}ure hergestellt werden. Die Bildung des Produkts erfolgt in einem zweiphasigen Reaktionssystem an der Grenzfl{\"a}che zwischen dem {\"O}l und der w{\"a}ssrigen Phase als Feststoff. Um das immobilisierte Enzym aktiv in die obere Phase zu transportieren, wurde eine neue magnetische Mischvorrichtung entwickelt. Das Reaktionsprodukt wurde mit NMR, GC-MS und HPLC-MS analysiert und mit einem chemisch synthetisierten Standard von 9,10-Dihydroxystearins{\"a}ure verglichen. Derzeit werden Studien des immobilisierten H{\"a}ms des Enzyms durchgef{\"u}hrt.},

  abstract  = {This paper presents a new SIMO radar system based on a harmonic radar (HR) stepped frequency continuous wave (SFCW) architecture. Simple tags that can be electronically individually activated and deactivated via a DC control voltage were developed and combined to form an MO array field. This HR operates in the entire 2.45 GHz ISM band for transmitting the illumination signal and receives at twice the stimulus frequency and bandwidth centered around 4.9 GHz. This paper presents the development, the basic theory of a HR system for the characterization of objects placed into the propagation path in-between the radar and the reflectors (similar to a free-space measurement with a network analyzer) as well as first measurements performed by the system. Further detailed measurement series will be made available later on to other researchers to develop AI and machine learning based signal processing routines or synthetic aperture radar algorithms for imaging, object recognition, and feature extraction. For this purpose, the necessary information is published in this paper. It is explained in detail why this SIMO-HR can be an attractive solution augmenting or replacing existing systems for radar measurements in production technology for material under test measurements and as a simplified MIMO system. The novel HR transfer function, which is a basis for researchers and developers for material characterization or imaging algorithms, is introduced and metrologically verified in a well traceable coaxial setup.},

  abstract  = {Time-of-flight (ToF) sensors have become an alternative to conventional distance sensing techniques like laser scanners or image based stereo. ToF sensors provide full range distance information at high frame-rates and thus have a significant impact onto current research in areas like online object recognition, collision prevention or scene reconstruction. However, ToF cameras like the photonic mixer device (PMD) still exhibit a number of challenges regarding static and dynamic effects, e.g. systematic distance errors and motion artefacts, respectively. Sensor calibration techniques reducing static system errors have been proposed and show promising results. However, current calibration techniques in general need a large set of reference data in order to determine the corresponding parameters for the calibration model. This paper introduces a new calibration approach which combines different demodulation techniques for the ToF- camera 's reference signal. Examples show, that the resulting combined demodulation technique yields improved distance values based on only two required reference data sets.},

  abstract  = {Rehabilitative body weight supported gait training aims at restoring walking function as a key element in activities of daily living. Studies demonstrated reductions in muscle and joint forces, while kinematic gait patterns appear to be preserved with up to 30\% weight support. However, the influence of body weight support on muscle architecture, with respect to fascicle and series elastic element behavior is unknown, despite this having potential clinical implications for gait retraining. Eight males (31.9 ± 4.7 years) walked at 75\% of the speed at which they typically transition to running, with 0\% and 30\% body weight support on a lower-body positive pressure treadmill. Gastrocnemius medialis fascicle lengths and pennation angles were measured via ultrasonography. Additionally, joint kinematics were analyzed to determine gastrocnemius medialis muscle-tendon unit lengths, consisting of the muscle's contractile and series elastic elements. Series elastic element length was assessed using a muscle-tendon unit model. Depending on whether data were normally distributed, a paired t-test or Wilcoxon signed rank test was performed to determine if body weight supported walking had any effects on joint kinematics and fascicle-series elastic element behavior. Walking with 30\% body weight support had no statistically significant effect on joint kinematics and peak series elastic element length. Furthermore, at the time when peak series elastic element length was achieved, and on average across the entire stance phase, muscle-tendon unit length, fascicle length, pennation angle, and fascicle velocity were unchanged with respect to body weight support. In accordance with unchanged gait kinematics, preservation of fascicle-series elastic element behavior was observed during walking with 30\% body weight support, which suggests transferability of gait patterns to subsequent unsupported walking.},

F{\"u}r den Oberfl{\"a}chenschutz wurden verschiedene, antimikrobiell funktionalisierte Partikelkombinationen mit dem Mikroorganismus Escherichia coli GFPmut2 in Bezug auf aktiven Oberfl{\"a}chenschutz verglichen. Um die antimikrobielle Oberfl{\"a}cheneffekte von synergistischen Kombinationen unterschiedlich funktionalisierter Partikel zu bestimmen, werden Oberfl{\"a}chen einem Magnetfeld ausgesetzt, das die Mikropartikel als definierte Schicht auf ihnen zur{\"u}ck h{\"a}lt. Diese modifizierten Oberfl{\"a}chen k{\"o}nnen sowohl durch Fluoreszenzspektroskopie als auch -mikroskopie analysiert werden.},

  abstract  = {Clearance of blood components and fluid drainage play a crucial role in subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) and post hemorrhagic hydrocephalus (PHH). With the involvement of interstitial fluid (ISF) and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF), two pathways for the clearance of fluid and solutes in the brain are proposed. Starting at the level of capillaries, flow of ISF follows along the basement membranes in the walls of cerebral arteries out of the parenchyma to drain into the lymphatics and CSF [1]-[3]. Conversely, it is shown that CSF enters the parenchyma between glial and pial basement membranes of penetrating arteries [4]-[6]. Nevertheless, the involved structures and the contribution of either flow pathway to fluid balance between the subarachnoid space and interstitial space remains controversial. Low frequency oscillations in vascular tone are referred to as vasomotion and corresponding vasomotion waves are modeled as the driving force for flow of ISF out of the parenchyma [7]. Retinal vessel analysis (RVA) allows non-invasive measurement of retinal vessel vasomotion with respect to diameter changes [8]. Thus, the aim of the study is to investigate vasomotion in RVA signals of SAH and PHH patients.},

  abstract  = {Der folgende Bericht fasst Erfahrungen zusammen, die in großen Entwicklungsprojekten der Firma Ericsson {\"u}ber mehrere Jahre gesammelt wurden. Ziel war dabei nicht, agile Methoden und Techniken einzusetzen - Agilit{\"a}t war zu der Zeit noch kein Hype-Thema. Vielmehr wurden Schw{\"a}chen in den eigenen Projekten identifiziert und verbessert. Der Erfahrungsbericht vergleicht Verbesserungen in diesen Projekten mit den Ans{\"a}tzen der agilen Entwicklung. Als Ergebnis werden folgende Punkte festgehalten: Erstens, einige Praktiken und Werte der agilen Entwicklung lassen sich auch in Großprojekten einsetzen. Zweitens, bei der Skalierung f{\"u}r Großprojekte werden diese Praktiken langsamer getaktet. Drittens, agile Entwicklung ist nicht nur eine Reihe von Praktiken und Werten, agile Entwicklung ist vielmehr auch eine Frage der Entwicklungs- und Projektkultur. One promising MAE candidate is 197m/gHg with its half-life of 23.8 h and 64.1 h, respectively, and high MAE yield. Gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) that are labelled with 197m/gHg could be a helpful tool for radiation treatment of glioblastoma multiforme when infused into the surgical cavity after resection to prevent recurrence. To produce such AuNPs, 197m/gHg was embedded into pristine AuNPs. Two different syntheses were tested starting from irradiated gold containing trace amounts of 197m/gHg. When sodium citrate was used as reducing agent, no 197m/gHg labelled AuNPs were formed, but with tannic acid, 197m/gHg labeled AuNPs were produced. The method was optimized by neutralizing the pH (pH = 7) of the Au/197m/gHg solution, which led to labelled AuNPs with a size of 12.3 ± 2.0 nm as measured by transmission electron microscopy. The labelled AuNPs had a concentration of 50 μg (gold)/mL with an activity of 151 ± 93 kBq/mL (197gHg, time corrected to the end of bombardment).},

  abstract  = {New information regarding the influence of a stepped chute on the hydraulic performance of the United States Bureau of Reclamation (Reclamation) Type III hydraulic jump stilling basin is presented for design (steady) and adverse (decreasing tailwater) conditions. Using published experimental data and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) models, this paper presents a detailed comparison between smooth-chute and stepped-chute configurations for chute slopes of 0.8H:1V and 4H:1V and Froude numbers (F) ranging from 3.1 to 9.5 for a Type III basin designed for F = 8. For both stepped and smooth chutes, the relative role of each basin element was quantified, up to the most hydraulic extreme case of jump sweep-out. It was found that, relative to a smooth chute, the turbulence generated by a stepped chute causes a higher maximum velocity decay within the stilling basin, which represents an enhancement of the Type III basin's performance but also a change in the relative role of the basin elements. Results provide insight into the ability of the CFD models [unsteady Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS) equations with renormalization group (RNG) k-ϵ turbulence model and volume-of-fluid (VOF) for free surface tracking] to predict the transient basin flow structure and velocity profiles. Type III basins can perform adequately with a stepped chute despite the effects steps have on the relative role of each basin element. It is concluded that the classic Type III basin design, based upon methodology by reclamation specific to smooth chutes, can be hydraulically improved for the case of stepped chutes for design and adverse flow conditions using the information presented herein.},

The principle relies on the size and wavelength dependent backscatter of growing particles in fluids. Measured interference structures of backscattered light are compared with calculated theoretical values, based on Mie-Theory, and fitted with a linear least square method to obtain particle size distributions. For this purpose, a broadband light source in combination with a process-CCD-spectrometer (charge ? coupled device spectrometer) and process adapted fiber optics are used. The goal is the development of an easy and flexible measurement device for in-line-monitoring of particle size. The presented device can be directly installed in product fill tubes or vessels, follows CIP- (cleaning in place) and removes the need of sample taking.   abstract  = {A new methodology is proposed to spatially filter acoustic Doppler velocimetry data from a Vectrino profiler based on the differential mean velocity equation. Lower and upper bounds are formulated in terms of physically based flow constraints. Practical implementation is discussed, and its application is tested against data gathered from an open-channel flow over a stepped macroroughness surface. The method has proven to detect outliers occurring all over the distance range sampled by the Vectrino profiler and has shown to remain applicable out of the region of validity of the velocity gradient equation. Finally, a statistical analysis suggests that physically obtained bounds are asymptotically representative.},
