The modularity allows the assembly of scanners of different sizes and characteristics in order to satisfy the specific needs of the individual member institutions. The system performs depth of interaction detection by using a phoswich arrangement combining LSO and LuYAP scintillators which are coupled to Multichannel Photomultipliers (PMTs). For each PMT a free running 40 MHz ADC digitizes the signal and the complete scintillation pulse is sampled by an FPGA and sent with 20 MB/s to a PC for preprocessing. The pulse provides information about the gamma energy and the scintillator material which identifies the interaction layer. Furthermore, the exact pulse starting time is obtained from the sampled data. This is important as no hardware coincidence detection is implemented. All single events are recorded and coincidences are identified by software. The system in J{\"u}lich (ClearPET Neuro) is equipped with 10240 crystals on 80 PMTs. In this fMRI study we examined the behavioral and neural effects of trigeminal (forehead) and peripheral (hand) pain on visual processing and memory encoding. Cerebral activity was measured in 23 healthy subjects performing a visual categorization task that was immediately followed by a surprise recognition task. During the categorization task subjects received concomitant noxious electrical stimulation on the forehead or hand. Our data show that fear ratings were significantly higher for trigeminal pain. Categorization and recognition performance did not differ between pictures that were presented with trigeminal and peripheral pain. However, object categorization in the presence of trigeminal pain was associated with stronger activity in task-relevant visual areas (lateral occipital complex, LOC), memory encoding areas (hippocampus and parahippocampus) and areas implicated in emotional processing (amygdala) compared to peripheral pain. Further, individual differences in neural activation between the trigeminal and the peripheral condition were positively related to differences in fear ratings between both conditions. Functional connectivity between amygdala and LOC was increased during trigeminal compared to peripheral painful stimulation. A high yield (71.1\%) of humic acid (LHA) from leonardite has been demonstrated. Parental leonardite (PL) and LHA were applied to soil prior to potato cultivation. The 16S rRNA sequencing of soil samples revealed distinct relationships between microbial community composition and the application of leonardite-based soil amendments. Potato tubers were planted in pots in greenhouse conditions. The tubers were harvested at the mature stage for the determination of growth and yield parameters. The results demonstrated that the LHA treatments had a significant effect on increasing potato growth (54.9\%) and tuber yield (66.4\%) when compared to the control. The prediction of reservoir temperature and production behavior is crucial for success of the proposed geothermal doublet. This work presents the results of a study of the important geothermal and geohydrological issues for the doublet design. In the first phase of the study, the influences of the three-dimensional (3D) structures of anticlines and synclines on the temperature field were examined. A comprehensive petrophysical investigation was performed to build a large scale 3D-model of the reservoir. Several bottomhole temperatures (BHTs), as well as petrophysical logs were used to calibrate the model using thermal conductivity measurements on 50 samples from boreholes in different lithological units in the study area. Profiles and cross sections extracted from the calculated temperature field were used to study the temperature in the surrounding areas of the planned doublet. In the second phase of the project, a detailed 3D numerical reservoir model was set up, with the aim of predicting the evolution of the producer and injector temperatures, and the extent of the cooled area around the injector. The temperature model from the first phase provided the boundary conditions for the reservoir model. Hydraulic parameters for the target horizons, such as porosity and permeability, were taken from data available from the nearby exploration wells. The simulation results are encouraging as no significant thermal breakthrough is predicted. For the originally planned location of the producer, the extracted water temperature is predicted to be around 79 °C, with an almost negligible cooling in the first 50 years of production. When the producer is located shallower parts of the reservoir, the yield water temperatures is lower, starting at ≈76 °C and decreasing to ≈74 °C after 50 years of operation. This comparatively larger decrease in temperature with time is caused by the structural feature of the reservoir, namely a higher dip causes the cooler water to easily move downward. In view of the poor reservoir data, the reservoir simulation model is constructed to allow iterative updates using data assimilation during planned drilling, testing, and production phases. Measurements during an 8 h pumping test carried out in late 2010 suggest that a flow rate of 150 m3 h-1 is achievable. Fluid temperatures of 76.5 °C were measured, which is very close to the predicted value.}, language = {en} } @article{PolenKraemerBongaertsetal.2005, author = {Polen, T. and Kr{\"a}mer, Marco and Bongaerts, Johannes and Wubbolts, Marcel and Wendisch, V. In particular, we are interested in two problems that arise from this inverse problem: the inverse conductivity problem and the corresponding interior transmission eigenvalue problem. The inverse conductivity problem is to recover the conductive boundary parameter from the measured scattering data. We prove that the measured scatted data uniquely determine the conductivity parameter as well as describe a direct algorithm to recover the conductivity. The interior transmission eigenvalue problem is an eigenvalue problem associated with the inverse scattering of such materials. We investigate the convergence of the eigenvalues as the conductivity parameter tends to zero as well as prove existence and discreteness for the case of an absorbing media. Lastly, several numerical and analytical results support the theory and we show that the inside-outside duality method can be used to reconstruct the interior conductive eigenvalues.}, language = {en} } @article{FassbenderBuehler2000, author = {Faßbender, Heinz and B{\"u}hler, Gerhard}, title = {The join of a geographical situation display system and a platform independent C2 information system}, series = {Proceedings of the 2000 Command and Control Research and Technology Symposium, Juni 2000, Monterey, USA}, journal = {Proceedings of the 2000 Command and Control Research and Technology Symposium, Juni 2000, Monterey, USA}, pages = {1 -- 7}, year = {2000}, language = {en} } @article{HanrathPlesken1984, author = {Hanrath, Wilhelm and Plesken, Wilhelm}, title = {The lattices of six-dimensional euclidean space}, series = {Mathematics of computation. 43 (1984), H. 168}, journal = {Mathematics of computation. 43 (1984), H. 168}, isbn = {0025-5718}, pages = {573 -- 587}, year = {1984}, language = {en} } @article{BaumannGoeyensTregueretal.1995, author = {Baumann, Marcus and Goeyens, L. and Tr{\´e}guer, P. and Baeyens, W.}, title = {The leading role of ammonium in the nitrogen uptake regime of Southern Ocean marginal ice zones / Goeyens, L. ; Tr{\´e}guer, P. ; Baumann, M.E.M. ; Baeyens, W. ; Dehairs, F.}, series = {Journal of Marine Systems. 6 (1995), H. 4}, journal = {Journal of Marine Systems. 6 (1995), H. 4}, isbn = {0924-7963}, pages = {345 -- 361}, year = {1995}, language = {de} } @article{KleefeldReissel2011, author = {Kleefeld, Andreas and Reißel, Martin}, title = {The Levenberg-Marquardt method applied to a parameter estimation problem arising from electrical resistivity tomography}, series = {Applied Mathematics and Computation}, volume = {217}, journal = {Applied Mathematics and Computation}, number = {9}, publisher = {Elsevier}, address = {Amsterdam}, isbn = {0096-3003}, pages = {4490 -- 4501}, year = {2011}, language = {en} } @article{BaumannRousseauVaulotetal.1994, author = {Baumann, Marcus and Rousseau, V. and Vaulot, D. and Casotti, R.}, title = {The life cycle of Phaeocystis (Prymnesiophycae): evidence and hypotheses / Rousseau, V. ; Vaulot, D. ; Casotti, R. ; Cariou, V. ; Lenz, J. ; Gunkel, J. ; Baumann, M.}, series = {Journal of Marine Systems. 5 (1994), H. 1}, journal = {Journal of Marine Systems. 5 (1994), H. 1}, isbn = {0924-7963}, pages = {23 -- 39}, year = {1994}, language = {en} } @article{YoshinobuIwasakiUietal.2005, author = {Yoshinobu, T. and Iwasaki, H. and Ui, Y. and Furuichi, K. and Ermelenko, Y. and Mourzina, Y. and Wagner, Torsten and N{\"a}ther, Niko and Sch{\"o}ning, Michael Josef}, title = {The light-addressable potentiometric sensor for multi-ion sensing and imaging}, series = {Methods. 37 (2005), H. 1}, journal = {Methods. 37 (2005), H. 1}, isbn = {1046-2023}, pages = {99 -- 102}, year = {2005}, language = {en} } @article{KernLangWiesingeretal.1989, author = {Kern, Alexander and Lang, U. and Wiesinger, J. and Zischank, Wolfgang J.}, title = {The longitudinal voltage of cable tubes with a screening mesh caused by partial lightning currents}, series = {Proceedings / Sixth International Symposium on High Voltage Engineering : 28. Neuroimaging techniques have recently demonstrated that area V5/MT is activated during the perception of this illusion. The aim of this study was to test the hypothesis if a more broadly distributed network of brain regions subserves the motion aftereffect. To identify the neuronal structures involved in the perception of the motion aftereffect, regional cerebral blood flow (rCBF) measurements with positron emission tomography were performed in six normal volunteers. Data were analysed using SPM96. The motion-sensitive visual areas including area V5/MT were activated in both hemispheres. Additionally, the lateral parietal cortex bilaterally, the right dorsolateral prefrontal cortex, the anterior cingulate cortex and the left cerebellum showed significant increases in rCBF values during the experience of the waterfall illusion. In a further reference condition with identical attentional demand but no perception of a motion aftereffect elevated rCBF were found in these regions as well. In conclusion, our findings support the notion that the perceptual illusion of motion arises exclusively in the motion-sensitive visual area V5/MT. In addition, a more widespread network of brain regions including the prefrontal and parietal cortex is activated during the waterfall illusion which represents a non-motion aftereffect-specific subset of brain areas but is involved in more basic attentional processing and cognition.}, language = {de} } @article{TaylorSchmitzZiemonsetal.2000, author = {Taylor, J. The most active components of this network were determined by means of an fMRI study of nine subjects exposed to a visual stimulus of moving bars producing the effect. Across the subjects, common areas were identified during various stages of the effect, as well as networks of areas specific to a single stage. In addition to the well-known motion-sensitive area MT the prefrontal brain areas BA44 and 47 and the cingulate gyrus, as well as posterior sites such as BA37 and BA40, were important components during the period of the motion aftereffect experience. They appear to be involved in control circuitry for selecting which of a number of processing styles is appropriate. The experimental fMRI results of the activation levels and their time courses for the various areas are explored. Correlation analysis shows that there are effectively two separate and weakly coupled networks involved in the total process. Comparison of the metabolic profiles obtained from the present study with previously published data from C57BL/6J mice and humans revealed a greater, though not complete, match between chimeric humanized mice and humans, such that the liver humanized FRG model may represent a model for assessing the biotransformation of such compounds in humans.}, language = {en} } @article{WilsonWilsonScheeretal.2017, author = {Wilson, Ian D. and Wilson, Claire E. and Scheer, Nico and Dickie, A.P. and Schreiter, K. and Wilson, E. First, a systematic literature review is carried out to outline (current) scientific models and theories. Research Question 1 follows with a mathematical introduction of the rebound effect, which shows the interdependence of consumer behaviour, technological progress, and interwoven effects for both. Thereupon, the research field is analysed for gaps and limitations by a systematic literature review. To ensure quantitative and qualitative results, a review protocol is used that integrates two different stages and covers all relevant publications released between 2000 and 2019. Accordingly, 392 publications were identified that deal with the rebound effect. These papers were reviewed to obtain relevant information on the two research questions. The literature review shows that research on the rebound effect is not yet comprehensive and focuses mainly on the effect itself rather than solutions to avoid it. Research Question 2 finds that the main gap, and thus the limitations, is that not much research has been published on the actual avoidance of the rebound effect yet. This is a major limitation for practical application by decision-makers and politicians. Therefore, a theoretical analysis was carried out to identify potential theories and ideas to avoid the rebound effect. The most obvious idea to solve this problem is the theory of a Steady-State Economy (SSE), which has been described and reviewed.}, language = {en} } @article{KrollLudwigs2007, author = {Kroll-Ludwigs, Kathrin}, title = {The Reform of German Maintenance Law}, series = {The International Survey of Family Law}, journal = {The International Survey of Family Law}, pages = {85 -- 100}, year = {2007}, language = {en} } @article{BiewendtBoehnertBlaschke2020, author = {Biewendt, Marcel and B{\"o}hnert, Arno and Blaschke, Florian}, title = {The repercussions of the digital twin in the automotive industry on the new marketing logic}, series = {European Journal of Marketing and Economics}, volume = {4}, journal = {European Journal of Marketing and Economics}, number = {1}, publisher = {Revistia}, address = {London}, issn = {2601-8659}, doi = {10.26417/229eim64f}, pages = {68 -- 73}, year = {2020}, abstract = {Rapid development of virtual and data acquisition technology makes Digital Twin Technology (DT) one of the fundamental areas of research, while DT is one of the most promissory developments for the achievement of Industry 4.0. 48\% percent of organisations implementing the Internet of Things are already using DT or plan to use DT in 2020. The global market for DT is expected to grow by 38 percent annually, reaching USD16 billion by 2023. In addition, the number of participating organisations using digital twins is expected to triple by 2022. DTs are characterised by the integration between physical and virtual spaces. Both Fe³⁺ and Cu²⁺, potential contaminants in Gallium-68 generator eluent, substantially reduce the radiochemical (RC) yield of [⁶⁸Ga(DOTATATE)] if the metal/ligand ratio of 1:1 is exceeded. A variety of compounds were examined for their potential ability to reduce this effect. Most had no effect on RC yield. However, addition of phosphate diminished the influence of Fe³⁺ by likely forming an insoluble iron salt. Addition of ascorbic acid reduced Cu²⁺ and Fe³⁺ to Cu⁺ and Fe²⁺ respectively, both of which have limited impact on RC yields. At low ligand amounts (5 nmol DOTATATE), the addition of 30 nmol phosphate (0.19 mM) increased the tolerance of Fe3⁺ from 4 nmol to 10 nmol (0.06 mM), while the addition of ascorbic acid allowed high RC yields (>95\%) in the presence of 40 nmol Fe³⁺ (0.25 mM) and 100 nmol Cu²⁺ (0.63 mM). The problem of bacterial contamination of inner parts of such a type of air conditioners in some cases draws attention towards alternative air-cleaning systems. This technology has been developed for those customers that are conscious about health and hygiene.
