One of the main reasons for their poor behaviour is the connection to the frame, which is usually constructed using mortar. This paper describes the novel solution for infill/frame connection based on application of elastomeric material between them. The system called INODIS (Innovative Decoupled Infill System) has the aim to postpone the activation of infill in in-plane direction and at the same time to provide sufficient out-of-plane support. First, experimental tests on infilled frame specimens are presented and the comparison of the results between traditionally infilled frames and infilled frames with the INODIS system are given. The results are then used for calibration and validation of numerical model, which can be further employed for investigating the influence of some material parameters on the behaviour of infilled frames with the INODIS system.}, language = {en} } @inproceedings{MayBreitbachAlexopoulosetal.2019, author = {May, Martin and Breitbach, Gerd and Alexopoulos, Spiros and Latzke, Markus and B{\"a}umer, Klaus and Uhlig, Ralf and S{\"o}hn, Matthias and Teixeira Boura, Cristiano Jos{\´e} and Herrmann, Ulf}, title = {Experimental facility for investigations of wire mesh absorbers for pressurized gases}, series = {AIP Conference Proceedings}, volume = {2126}, booktitle = {AIP Conference Proceedings}, issn = {0094243X}, doi = {10.1063/1.5117547}, pages = {030035-1 -- 030035-9}, year = {2019}, language = {en} } @article{ButenwegMarinkovicSalatic2019, author = {Butenweg, Christoph and Marinkovic, Marko and Salatic, Ratko}, title = {Experimental results of reinforced concrete frames with masonry infills under combined quasi-static in-plane and out-of-plane seismic loading}, series = {Bulletin of Earthquake Engineering}, volume = {17}, journal = {Bulletin of Earthquake Engineering}, publisher = {Springer}, address = {Berlin}, issn = {1573-1456}, doi = {10.1007/s10518-019-00602-7}, pages = {3397 -- 3422}, year = {2019}, language = {en} } @inproceedings{HingleyDikta2019, author = {Hingley, Peter and Dikta, Gerhard}, title = {Finding a well performing box-jenkins forecasting model for annualised patent filings counts}, series = {International Symposium on Forecasting, Thessaloniki, Greece, June 2019}, booktitle = {International Symposium on Forecasting, Thessaloniki, Greece, June 2019}, pages = {24 Folien}, year = {2019}, language = {en} } @incollection{LeiseAltherrSimonetal.2019, author = {Leise, Philipp and Altherr, Lena and Simon, Nicolai and Pelz, Peter F.}, title = {Finding global-optimal gearbox designs for battery electric vehicles}, series = {Optimization of complex systems - theory, models, algorithms and applications : WCGO 2019}, booktitle = {Optimization of complex systems - theory, models, algorithms and applications : WCGO 2019}, publisher = {Springer}, address = {Cham}, isbn = {978-3-030-21802-7}, doi = {10.1007/978-3-030-21803-4_91}, pages = {916 -- 925}, year = {2019}, abstract = {In order to maximize the possible travel distance of battery electric vehicles with one battery charge, it is mandatory to adjust all components of the powertrain carefully to each other. While current vehicle designs mostly simplify the powertrain rigorously and use an electric motor in combination with a gearbox with only one fixed transmission ratio, the use of multi-gear systems has great potential. First, a multi-speed system is able to improve the overall energy efficiency. Secondly, it is able to reduce the maximum momentum and therefore to reduce the maximum current provided by the traction battery, which results in a longer battery lifetime. In this paper, we present a systematic way to generate multi-gear gearbox designs that—combined with a certain electric motor—lead to the most efficient fulfillment of predefined load scenarios and are at the same time robust to uncertainties in the load. Therefore, we model the electric motor and the gearbox within a Mixed-Integer Nonlinear Program, and optimize the efficiency of the mechanical parts of the powertrain. By combining this mathematical optimization program with an unsupervised machine learning algorithm, we are able to derive global-optimal gearbox designs for practically relevant momentum and speed requirements.}, language = {en} } @article{EngelBayerHoltmannetal.2019, author = {Engel, Mareike and Bayer, Hendrik and Holtmann, Dirk and Tippk{\"o}tter, Nils and Ulber, Roland}, title = {Flavin secretion of Clostridium acetobutylicum in a bioelectrochemical system - Is an iron limitation involved?}, series = {Bioelectrochemistry}, journal = {Bioelectrochemistry}, number = {In Press, Accepted Manuscript}, publisher = {Elsevier}, address = {Amsterdam}, issn = {1567-5394}, doi = {10.1016/j.bioelechem.2019.05.014}, year = {2019}, language = {en} } @inproceedings{FunkeBeckmann2019, author = {Funke, Harald and Beckmann, Nils}, title = {Flexible Fuel Operation of a Dry-Low-Nox Micromix Combustor with Variable Hydrogen Methane Mixtures}, series = {Proceedings of International Gas Turbine Congress 2019 Tokyo, November 17-22, 2019, Tokyo, Japan}, booktitle = {Proceedings of International Gas Turbine Congress 2019 Tokyo, November 17-22, 2019, Tokyo, Japan}, isbn = {978-4-89111-010-9}, year = {2019}, language = {en} } @inproceedings{GrundmannBauerBodenetal.2019, author = {Grundmann, Jan Thimo and Bauer, Waldemar and Boden, Ralf and Ceriotti, Matteo and Chand, Suditi and Cordero, Federico and Dachwald, Bernd and Dumont, Etienne and Grimm, Christian D. and Heiligers, Jeannette and Herč{\´i}k, David and H{\´e}rique, Alain and Ho, Tra-Mi and Jahnke, Rico and Kofman, Wlodek and Lange, Caroline and Lichtenheldt, Roy and McInnes, Colin and Meß, Jan-Gerd and Mikschl, Tobias and Mikulz, Eugen and Montenegro, Sergio and Moore, Iain and Pelivan, Ivanka and Peloni, Alessandro and Plettemeier, Dirk and Quantius, Dominik and Reershemius, Siebo and Renger, Thomas and Riemann, Johannes and Rogez, Yves and Ruffer, Michael and Sasaki, Kaname and Schmitz, Nicole and Seboldt, Wolfgang and Seefeldt, Patric and Spietz, Peter and Spr{\"o}witz, Tom and Sznajder, Maciej and T{\´o}th, Norbert and Vergaaij, Merel and Viavattene, Giulia and Wejmo, Elisabet and Wiedemann, Carsten and Wolff, Friederike and Ziach, Christian}, title = {Flights are ten a sail - Re-use and commonality in the design and system engineering of small spacecraft solar sail missions with modular hardware for responsive and adaptive exploration}, series = {70th International Astronautical Congress (IAC)}, booktitle = {70th International Astronautical Congress (IAC)}, isbn = {9781713814856}, pages = {1 -- 7}, year = {2019}, language = {en} } @inproceedings{ChavezBermudezWollert2019, author = {Chavez Bermudez, Victor Francisco and Wollert, J{\"o}rg}, title = {Gateway for Automation Controllers and Cloud based Voice Recognition Services}, series = {KommA, 10. The solution quality of traditional optimal-control methods depends strongly on an adequate initial guess because the solution is typically close to the initial guess, which may be far from the (unknown) global optimum. Evolutionary neurocontrol attacks continuous-thrust optimization problems from the perspective of artificial intelligence and machine learning, combining artificial neural networks and evolutionary algorithms. This chapter describes the method and shows some example results for single- and multi-phase continuous-thrust trajectory optimization problems to assess its performance. Evolutionary neurocontrol can explore the trajectory search space more exhaustively than a human expert can do with traditional optimal-control methods. Especially for difficult problems, it usually finds solutions that are closer to the global optimum. Another fundamental advantage is that continuous-thrust trajectories can be optimized without an initial guess and without expert supervision.}, language = {en} } @inproceedings{MatareSchifferFerrein2019, author = {Matar{\´e}, Victor and Schiffer, Stefan and Ferrein, Alexander}, title = {golog++ : An integrative system design}, series = {CogRob 2018. Thus, continuous monitoring and controlling of the loadings applied to the musculoskeletal system along the motion trajectory is required. In this paper, a norm-optimal iterative learning control algorithm for the robot-assisted training is developed. The algorithm aims at minimizing the external knee joint moment, which is commonly used to quantify the loading of the medial compartment. To estimate the external knee joint moment, a musculoskeletal lower extremity model is implemented in OpenSim and coupled with a model of an industrial robot and a force plate mounted at its end-effector. The algorithm is tested in simulation for patients with varus, normal and valgus alignment of the knee. The results show that the algorithm is able to minimize the external knee joint moment in all three cases and converges after less than seven iterations.}, language = {en} } @article{MeyerGaalenLeschingeretal.2019, author = {Meyer, Carolin and Gaalen, Kerstin van and Leschinger, Tim and Scheyerer, Max J. and Neiss, Wolfram F. and Staat, Manfred and M{\"u}ller, Lars P. and Wegmann, Kilian}, title = {Kyphoplasty of Osteoporotic Fractured Vertebrae: A Finite Element Analysis about Two Types of Cement}, series = {BioMed Research International}, journal = {BioMed Research International}, doi = {10.1155/2019/9232813}, pages = {Article ID 9232813}, year = {2019}, language = {en} } @phdthesis{Tran2019, author = {Tran, Ngoc Trinh}, title = {Limit and Shakedown analysis of structures under stochastic conditions}, publisher = {Technische Universit{\"a}t Braunschweig}, address = {Braunschweig}, doi = {10.24355/dbbs.084-201902121135-0}, pages = {166 S.}, year = {2019}, language = {en} } @article{RoethSlabuKessleretal.2019, author = {Roeth, A.A. and Slabu, I. and Kessler, A. and Engelmann, Ulrich M.}, title = {Local treatment of pancreatic cancer with magnetic nanoparticles}, series = {HPB}, volume = {21}, journal = {HPB}, number = {Supplement 3}, publisher = {Elsevier}, address = {Amsterdam}, issn = {1365-182X}, doi = {10.1016/j.hpb.2019.10.959}, pages = {S868 -- S869}, year = {2019}, language = {en} } @incollection{TippkoetterMoehringRothetal.2019, author = {Tippk{\"o}tter, Nils and M{\"o}hring, Sophie and Roth, Jasmine and Wulfhorst, Helene}, title = {Logistics of lignocellulosic feedstocks: preprocessing as a preferable option}, series = {Biorefineries}, booktitle = {Biorefineries}, publisher = {Springer}, address = {Cham}, isbn = {978-3-319-97117-9}, doi = {10.1007/10_2017_58}, pages = {43 -- 68}, year = {2019}, abstract = {In comparison to crude oil, biorefinery raw materials are challenging in concerns of transport and storage. The plant raw materials are more voluminous, so that shredding and compacting usually are necessary before transport. These mechanical processes can have a negative influence on the subsequent biotechnological processing and shelf life of the raw materials. Various approaches and their effects on renewable raw materials are shown. In addition, aspects of decentralized pretreatment steps are discussed. Another important aspect of pretreatment is the varying composition of the raw materials depending on the growth conditions. This problem can be solved with advanced on-site spectrometric analysis of the material.}, language = {en} } @incollection{StengerAltherrAbel2019, author = {Stenger, David and Altherr, Lena and Abel, Dirk}, title = {Machine learning and metaheuristics for black-box optimization of product families: a case-study investigating solution quality vs. computational overhead}, series = {Operations Research Proceedings 2018}, booktitle = {Operations Research Proceedings 2018}, publisher = {Springer}, address = {Cham}, isbn = {978-3-030-18499-5 (Print)}, doi = {10.1007/978-3-030-18500-8_47}, pages = {379 -- 385}, year = {2019}, abstract = {In product development, numerous design decisions have to be made. Multi-domain virtual prototyping provides a variety of tools to assess technical feasibility of design options, however often requires substantial computational effort for just a single evaluation. A special challenge is therefore the optimal design of product families, which consist of a group of products derived from a common platform. Finding an optimal platform configuration (stating what is shared and what is individually designed for each product) and an optimal design of all products simultaneously leads to a mixed-integer nonlinear black-box optimization model. We present an optimization approach based on metamodels and a metaheuristic. To increase computational efficiency and solution quality, we compare different types of Gaussian process regression metamodels adapted from the domain of machine learning, and combine them with a genetic algorithm. We illustrate our approach on the example of a product family of electrical drives, and investigate the trade-off between solution quality and computational overhead.}, language = {en} } @inproceedings{HailerWeberArent2019, author = {Hailer, Benjamin and Weber, Tobias and Arent, Jan-Christoph}, title = {Manufacturing Process Simulation for Autoclave-Produced Sandwich Structures}, series = {Proceedings of SAMPE Europe Conference 2019, Nantes, France}, booktitle = {Proceedings of SAMPE Europe Conference 2019, Nantes, France}, pages = {1 -- 8}, year = {2019}, language = {en} } @inproceedings{WeberEnglhardHaileretal.2019, author = {Weber, Tobias and Englhard, Markus and Hailer, Benjamin and Arent, Jan-Christoph}, title = {Manufacturing Process Simulation for the Prediction of Tool-Part-Interaction and Ply Wrinkling}, series = {Proceedings of SAMPE Europe Conference 2019, Nantes, France}, booktitle = {Proceedings of SAMPE Europe Conference 2019, Nantes, France}, pages = {1 -- 10}, year = {2019}, language = {en} } @inproceedings{FingerGoettenBraunetal.2019, author = {Finger, Felix and G{\"o}tten, Falk and Braun, Carsten and Bil, Cees}, title = {Mass, Primary Energy, and Cost - The Impact of Optimization Objectives on the Initial Sizing of Hybrid-Electric General Aviation Aircraft}, series = {Deutscher Luft- und Raumfahrtkongress 2019, DLRK 2019. In this report we present a technique based on a magnetic tweezers setup to measure the velocity factor of magnetically actuated individual superparamagnetic beads in a fluidic environment. Several beads can be tracked simultaneously in order to gain and improve statistics. Furthermore we show our results for different beads with hydrodynamic diameters between 200 and 1000 nm from diverse manufacturers.
