  abstract  = {Solar sails are large and lightweight reflective structures that are propelled by solar radiation pressure. This chapter covers their orbital and attitude dynamics and control. First, the advantages and limitations of solar sails are discussed and their history and development status is outlined. Because the dynamics of solar sails is governed by the (thermo-)optical properties of the sail film, the basic solar radiation pressure force models have to be described and compared before parameters to measure solar sail performance can be defined. The next part covers the orbital dynamics of solar sails for heliocentric motion, planetocentric motion, and motion at Lagrangian equilibrium points. Afterwards, some advanced solar radiation pressure force models are described, which allow to quantify the thrust force on solar sails of arbitrary shape, the effects of temperature, of light incidence angle, of surface roughness, and the effects of optical degradation of the sail film in the space environment. The orbital motion of a solar sail is strongly coupled to its rotational motion, so that the attitude control of these soft and flexible structures is very challenging, especially for planetocentric orbits that require fast attitude maneuvers. Finally, some potential attitude control methods are sketched and selection criteria are given.},

  abstract  = {Bacterial lipopolysaccharides (endotoxins) show strong biological effects at very low concentrations in human beings and many animals when entering the blood stream. These include affecting structure and function of organs and cells, changing metabolic functions, raising body temperature, triggering the coagulation cascade, modifying hemodynamics and causing septic shock. Because of this toxicity, the removal of even minute amounts is essential for safe parenteral administration of drugs and also for septic shock patients' care. The absence of a general method for endotoxin removal from liquid interfaces urgently requires finding new methods and materials to overcome this gap. Nanostructured carbonized plant parts is a promising material that showed good adsorption properties due to its vast pore network and high surface area. The aim of this study was comparative measurement of endotoxin- and blood proteins-related adsorption rate and adsorption capacity for different carboneous materials produced at different temperatures and under different surface modifications. As a main surface modificator, positively cbarged polymer, polyethileneimine (PEl) was used. Activated carbon materials showed good adsorption properties for LPS and some proteins used in the experiments. During the batch experiments, several techniques (dust removal, autoclaving) were used and optimized for improving the material's adsorption behavior. Also, with the results obtained it was possible to differentiate the materials according to their adsorption capacity and kinetic characteristics. Modification of the surface apparently has not affected hemoglobin binding to the adsorbent's surface. Obtained adsorption isotherms can be used as a powerful tool for designing of future column-based setups for blood purification from LPS, which is especially important for septic shock treatment.},

  abstract  = {Die Erdbebensicherheit von Geb{\"a}uden aus Kalksandsteinmauerwerk ist aktuell nach DIN 4149 mit linearen Verfahren nachzuweisen. Dies f{\"u}hrt in der praktischen Anwendung zu großen Problemen, da selbst traditionell {\"u}bliche Grundrisse teilweise nicht mehr ohne zus{\"a}tzliche Maßnahmen nachweisbar sind. Zur L{\"o}sung dieser Problematik wurden von der deutschen Mauerwerksindustrie auf nationaler und europ{\"a}ischer Ebene Forschungsprojekte initiiert, deren Ergebnisse in Form von statisch nichtlinearen Verfahren Eingang in den Nationalen Anhang zur DIN EN 1998-1 [12] gefunden haben. Mit den Verfahren wird die Nachweissituation zuk{\"u}nftig grundlegend verbessert, da mit diesen die Tragwerksreserven wesentlich besser ausgenutzt werden k{\"o}nnen. Im Folgenden wird die Anwendung der Verfahren am Beispiel einer Reihenhauszeile aus Kalksandsteinmauerwerk demonstriert. Der Nachweis der Reihenh{\"a}user wurde im Rahmen einer Zustimmung im Einzelfall, die vom Bundesverband Kalksandsteinindustrie eV in Hannover koordiniert wurde, durch unabh{\"a}ngige Gutachter und die Bauaufsicht eingehend gepr{\"u}ft und f{\"u}r richtig befunden. Die Durchf{\"u}hrung des Nachweises erfolgte auf Grundlage eines an der RWTH Aachen entwickelten neuen Nachweiskonzeptes. Die baupraktische Anwendbarkeit und einfache Nachvollziehbarkeit dieses Konzepts ist durch eine softwaretechnische Umsetzung sichergestellt.},

  abstract  = {Moderne Bauwerke m{\"u}ssen heute eine hohe energetische Leistungsf{\"a}higkeit aufweisen und gleichzeitig alle einwirkenden Lasten sicher abtragen. Dies stellt insbesondere in Erdbebengebieten hohe Anforderungen an die verwendeten Baustoffe. Am baupraktischen Beispiel einer Doppelhaush{\"a}lfte wird demonstriert, dass die Symbiose aus energieeffizientem und gleichzeitig erdbebensicherem Bauen in der h{\"o}chsten deutschen Erdbebenzone mit monolithischem Ziegelmauerwerk gut realisierbar ist. Als Ziegelmauerwerk werden f{\"u}r die Außenw{\"a}nde w{\"a}rmetechnisch optimierte Hochlochziegel verwendet, die sowohl die Anforderungen der Energieeinsparverordnung 2009 als auch die Anforderungen an Mauerwerkbaustoffe nach den aktuellen Erdbebennormen erf{\"u}llen. Der Erdbebennachweis der Doppelhaush{\"a}lfte erfolgt mit einem nichtlinearen Nachweisverfahren, das f{\"u}r eine einfache praktische Anwendung programmtechnisch umgesetzt wurde. F{\"u}r den Nachweis wurden aus zyklischen Schubwandversuchen ermittelte Last-Verformungskurven verwendet. Das gesamte in Deutschland noch nicht normativ geregelte Nachweiskonzept wurde im Rahmen einer Zustimmung im Einzelfall gepr{\"u}ft und genehmigt.},

However, MRI of human phonation remains very challenging due to the small size of the targeted structures, interfering signal from fat, air between the vocal folds and surrounding muscles and physiological motion. These anatomical/physiological constraints translate into stringent technical requirements in balancing, scan time, image contrast, immunity to physiological motion, temporal resolution and spatial resolution. Motivated by these challenges and limitations this study is aiming at translating the sensitivity gain at ultra-high magnetic fields for enhanced high spatial resolution 3D imaging of the larynx and vocal tract.   abstract  = {b-Lactame geh{\"o}ren zu den wirkungsvollsten Antibiotika, jedoch lassen sich viele nur schwierig fermentativ erzeugen. Ein Problem bei der fermentativen Produktion ist die Hydrolyse des Lactamrings im w{\"a}ssrigen Milieu. Das Ziel des von der DBU gef{\"o}rderten Projekts ist die selektive In-situ-Adsorption der b-Lactamantibiotika unter anschließender magnetischer Separation. Durch die Isolation im Hochgradientenmagnetseparator (HGMS) ist eine Fest-fest-fl{\"u}ssig-Trennung und somit ein erheblicher Zeitgewinn im Downstreamprozess m{\"o}glich. Zus{\"a}tzlich kommt es zur Einsparung an L{\"o}sungsmittel und Energie, was neben Reduzierung der Antibiotikahydrolyse auch in {\"o}kologischer Hinsicht einen interessanten Aspekt darstellt. Als Tr{\"a}germaterial f{\"u}r die Adsorbermatrix werden magnetisierbare Eisenoxidpartikel eingesetzt, die in einer Silikamatrix eingebettet sind. Diese Adsorber sollen auf Selektivit{\"a}t in Wasser und verschiedenen Medien getestet werden. Zus{\"a}tzlich werden die Abbauprodukte des b-Lactams analysiert, um eine Aussage {\"u}ber die Stabilisierung des Antibiotikums durch die selektiven Adsorber treffen zu k{\"o}nnen. Diese Ergebnisse werden mit kommerziell erh{\"a}ltlichen Adsorbern verglichen. Die Aufreinigung der Antibiotika soll direkt aus der Fermentationsbr{\"u}he erfolgen. Um die Trennung der magnetischen, selektiven Adsorber von der Biomasse zu gew{\"a}hrleisten, soll der HGMS in die Fermentation integriert werden. Das filament{\"o}se Wachstum des Mikroorganismus erfordert eine Neuauslegung der Filtermatrix.},

  abstract  = {Molke f{\"a}llt im Rahmen der K{\"a}seherstellung allein in Deutschland in Mengen von {\"u}ber 11 Mio. Tonnen j{\"a}hrlich an. Dieses Nebenprodukt wurde trotz seines Reichtums an Milchzucker und Proteinen lange Zeit kaum industriell weiterverarbeitet und stellte ein bedeutendes Problem bei der Abwasserreinigung dar. Derzeit kommen meist kosten- und reinigungsintensive Membranfiltrationsverfahren bei der Auftrennung von Molke in ihre Hauptkomponenten Lactose und Molkenprotein zum Einsatz. Die Produkte finden vorwiegend in der Nahrungsmittelindustrie Anwendung als S{\"u}ßungsmittel, Proteinzusatz oder Texturbildner. Die Mehrheit des Proteins wird dabei als Konzentrat bzw. Proteinpulver verarbeitet. Wegen der antibakteriellen, antiviralen und weiteren wertvollen physiologischen Eigenschaften der Molkeproteine stellt eine weitere Aufreinigung der einzelnen Molkeproteine f{\"u}r die pharmazeutische Industrie einen naheliegenden zus{\"a}tzlichen Wertsch{\"o}pfungsschritt dar. In Kooperation mit der S{\"u}d Chemie AG wurde damit begonnen, ein Verfahren zu entwickeln, das kosteng{\"u}nstige mineralische Adsorbentien verwendet. Bisher konnte die Abtrennung von Lactose von den Molkenproteinen aus verd{\"u}nntem Molkekonzentrat in einem Verfahrensschritt ohne Vorbehandlung des Rohstoffs erfolgreich realisiert werden. Aktuelle Arbeiten besch{\"a}ftigen sich mit der Verbesserung der Proteinbindekapazit{\"a}tund chromatographischen Proteinauftrennung sowie dem Upscaling zum direkten Einsatz von Molkekonzentrat ohne Vorverd{\"u}nnung.},
