N2  - This paper addresses the pixel based classification of three dimensional objects from arbitrary views. To perform this task a coding strategy, inspired by the biological model of human vision, for pixel data is described. The coding strategy ensures that the input data is invariant against shift, scale and rotation of the object in the input domain. The image data is used as input to a class of self organizing neural networks, the Kohonen-maps or self-organizing feature maps (SOFM). To verify this approach two test sets have been generated: the first set, consisting of artificially generated images, is used to examine the classification properties of the SOFMs; the second test set examines the clustering capabilities of the SOFM when real world image data is applied to the network after it has been preprocessed to be invariant against shift, scale and rotation. It is shown that the clustering capability of the SOFM is strongly dependant on the invariance coding of the images.

N2  - Im Rahmen von Ermüdungsanalysen ist nachzuweisen, daß die thermisch bedingten fortschreitenden Deformationen begrenzt bleiben. Hierzu ist die Abgrenzung des Shakedown-Bereiches (Einspielen) vom Ratchetting-Bereich (fortschreitende Deformation) von Interesse. Im Rahmen eines EU-geförderten Forschungsvorhabens wurden Experimente mit einem 4-Stab-Modell durchgeführt. Das Experiment bestand aus einem wassergekühlten inneren Rohr und drei isolierten und beheizbaren äußeren Probestäben. Das System wurde durch alternierende Axialkräfte, denen alternierende Temperaturen an den äußeren Stäben überlagert wurden, belastet. Die Versuchsparameter wurden teilweise nach vorausgegangenen Einspielanalysen gewählt. Während der Versuchsdurchführung wurden Temperaturen und Dehnungen zeitabhängig gemessen. Begleitend und nachfolgend zur Versuchsdurchführung wurden die Belastungen und die daraus resultierenden Beanspruchungen nachvollzogen. Bei dieser inkrementellen elasto-plastischen Analyse mit dem Programm ANSYS wurden unterschiedliche Werkstoffmodelle angesetzt. Die Ergebnisse dieser Simulationsberechnung dienen dazu, die Shakedown-Analysen mittels FE-Methode zu verifizieren.

N2  - Traglast- und Einspielanalysen sind vereinfachte doch exakte Verfahren der Plastizität, die neben ausreichender Verformbarkeit keine einschränkenden Voraussetzungen beinhalten. Die Vereinfachungen betreffen die Beschaffung der Daten und Modelle für Details der Lastgeschichte und des Stoffverhaltens. Anders als die klassische Behandlung nichtlinearer Probleme der Strukturmechanik führt die Methode auf Optimierungsprobleme. Diese sind bei realistischen FEM-Modellen sehr groß. Das hat die industrielle Anwendung der Traglast- und Einspielanalysen stark verzögert. Diese Situation wird durch das Brite-EuRam Projekt LISA grundlegend geändert. In LISA entsteht auf der Basis des industriellen FEM-Programms PERMAS ein Verfahren zur direkten Berechnung der Tragfähigkeit duktiler Strukturen. Damit kann der Betriebsbereich von Komponenten und Bauwerken auf den plastischen Bereich erweitert werden, ohne den Aufwand gegenüber elastischen Analysen wesentlich zu erhöhen. Die beachtlichen Rechenzeitgewinne erlauben Parameterstudien und die Berechnung von Interaktionsdiagrammen, die einen schnellen Überblick über mögliche Betriebsbereiche vermitteln. Es zeigt sich, daß abhängig von der Komponente und ihren Belastungen teilweise entscheidende Sicherheitsgewinne zur Erweiterung der Betriebsbereiche erzielt werden können. Das Vorgehen erfordert vom Anwender oft ein gewisses Umdenken. Es werden keine Spannungen berechnet, um damit Sicherheit und Lebensdauer zu interpretieren. Statt dessen berechnet man direkt die gesuchte Sicherheit. Der Post-Prozessor wird nur noch zur Modell- und Rechenkontrolle benötigt. Das Vorgehen ist ähnlich der Stabilitätsanalyse (Knicken, Beulen). Durch namhafte industrielle Projektpartner werden Validierung und die Anwendbarkeit auf eine breite Palette technischer Probleme garantiert. Die ebenfalls in LISA entwickelten Zuverlässigkeitsanalysen sind nichlinear erst auf der Basis direkter Verfahren effektiv möglich. Ohne Traglast- und Einspielanalyse ist plastische Strukturoptimierung auch heute kaum durchführbar. Auf die vorgesehenen Erweiterungen der Werkstoffmodellierung für nichtlineare Verfestigung und für Schädigung konnte hier nicht eingegangen werden. Es herrscht ein deutlicher Mangel an Experimenten zum Nachweis der Grenzen zwischen elastischem Einspielen und dem Versagen durch LCF oder durch Ratchetting.

N2  - Aim of the AXON2 project (Adaptive Expert System for Object Recogniton using Neuml Networks) is the development of an object recognition system (ORS) capable of recognizing isolated 3d objects from arbitrary views. Commonly, classification is based on a single feature extracted from the original image. Here we present an architecture adapted from the Mixtures of Eaqerts algorithm which uses multiple neuml networks to integmte different features. During tmining each neural network specializes in a subset of objects or object views appropriate to the properties of the corresponding feature space. In recognition mode the system dynamically chooses the most relevant features and combines them with maximum eficiency. The remaining less relevant features arz not computed and do therefore not decelerate the-recognition process. Thus, the algorithm is well suited for ml-time applications.

N2  - RaWid was the German national technology programme on transonic aerodynamics and supporting technologies, lasting from 1995 to 1998. One of the main topics was laminar wing development. Besides aerodynamic design work, many operational aspects were investigated. A manufacturing concept was developed to be applied to operational laminar wings and empennages. It was built in a large scale manufacturing demonstrator with the aerodynamic shape of a 1,5 m section of the A320 fin nose. Tolerances in shape and roughness fulfilled all requirements. The construction can easily be adapted to varying stiffness and strength requirements. Weight and manufacturing costs are comparable to common nose designs. The mock-up to be designed in ALTTA is based on this manufacturing principle. Another critical point is contamination of suction surfaces. Several tests were performed to investigate perforated titanium suction surfaces at realistic operational conditions: - a one year flight test with a suction plate in the stagnation area of the Airbus "Beluga" - a one year test of several suction plates in a ground test near the airport - a one year test of a working suction ground test installation at all weather conditions. No critical results were found. There is no long term suction degradation visible. Icing conditions and ground de-icing fluids used on airports did not pose severe problems. Some problems detected require only respection of weak design constraints.

These I&C-cables can be routed in reinforced concrete cable ducts or in isolated buried cable runs. KTA 2206 is the German lightning protection standard for nuclear power plants. During the last several years considerable effort has been made to revise this standard. Despite the well established principles and design guidelines for the construction of the lightning protection system, this standard puts special emphasis on the coupling of transient overvoltages to I&C-cables.

N2  - Safety and reliability of structures may be assessed indirectly by stress distributions. Limit and shakedown theorems are simplified but exact methods of plasticity that provide safety factors directly in the loading space. These theorems may be used for a direct definition of the limit state function for failure by plastic collapse or by inadaptation. In a FEM formulation the limit state function is obtained from a nonlinear optimization problem. This direct approach reduces considerably the necessary knowledge of uncertain technological input data, the computing time, and the numerical error. Moreover, the direct way leads to highly effective and precise reliability analyses. The theorems are implemented into a general purpose FEM program in a way capable of large-scale analysis.

N2  - Traglast- und Einspielanalysen sind vereinfachte doch exakte Verfahren der klassischen Plastizitätstheorie, die neben ausreichender Verformbarkeit keine einschränkenden Voraussetzungen beinhalten. Die Vereinfachungen betreffen die Beschaffung der Daten und Modelle für Details der Lastgeschichte und des Stoffverhaltens. Eine FEM-basierte Traglast- und Einspielanalyse für ideal plastisches Material wurde auf ein kinematisch verfestigendes Materialgesetz erweitert und in das Finite Element Programm PERMAS implementiert. In einem einfachen Zug-Torsionsexperiment wurde eine Hohlprobe mit konstanter Torsion und zyklischer Zugbelastung beansprucht, um die neue Implementierung zu verifizieren. Es konnte gezeigt werden, dass die Einspielanalyse gut mit den experimentellen Ergebnissen übereinstimmt. Bei Verfestigung lassen sich wesentlich größere Sicherheiten nachweisen. Dieses Potential bedarf weiterer experimenteller Absicherung. Parallel dazu ist die Eisnpieltheorie auf fortschrittliche Verfestigungsansätze zu erweitern.

N2  - Im Rahmen eines modernen Blitzschutzsystems für Stahlbeton-Bauten bietet es sich an, die Betonbewehrung zu benutzen: - Sie kann die Funktionen der Ableitungseinrichtungen und des Blitzschutz- Potentialausgleichs bei einem klassischen Gebäude-Blitzschutz übernehmen [1]; - Sie kann, ggf. bei entsprechender Ergänzung, als ein geschlossener Käfig ausgebildet werden und damit eine deutliche Reduzierung der Belastung elektrischer / elektronischer Systeme durch blitzinduzierte elektromagnetische Felder erbringen (LEMP-Schutz [2]). Die Nutzung der Bewehrung ist dabei grundsätzlich gleichermaßen bei Neubauten wie auch bei Ertüchtigungen möglich und sinnvoll. So stellt die Nutzung der Bewehrung beispielsweise im Bereich von Großkraftwerken eine wesentliche Ertüchtigungsmaßnahme für den Blitzschutz elektrischer und elektronischer Einrichtungen dar: - Einerseits wird der Blitzschutz-Potentialausgleich durch den Anschluss metallener Einrichtungen wie Elektronik-Schränke, Kabeltrag-Konstruktionen, Rohrleitungen, etc. an die Bewehrung deutlich verbessert. - Andererseits kann bei größeren Gebäuden die elektromagnetische Schirmwirkung durch die elektrische Überbrückung von vorhandenen Dehnfugen bei Stahlbetonbauten optimiert werden. Diese Dehnfugen sind teilweise nur unzureichend überbrückt, so dass bei Blitzeinschlag in das betreffende oder ein benachbartes Gebäude an Kabelstrecken, die über die Dehnfuge hinwegführen, rel. hohe Spannungen induziert werden können [2, 3]. Die sich um das gesamte Gebäude herumziehende oder zwischen zwei Gebäuden befindliche Dehnfuge muss deshalb im Abstand von maximal einigen Metern überbrückt werden. Im Falle von Blitzschutz-Ertüchtigungen in vorhandenen Gebäuden wird bisher an jeder geplanten Anschlussstelle die Bewehrung großflächig (&#8709; wenige 10 cm) freigelegt, dort ein elektrischer Anschluss zu dem Bewehrungsstab hergestellt, z.B. mittels eines Erdungsfestpunkts, und dann die Betonoberfläche wieder geschlossen. Je nach prognostizierter Strombelastung wird teilweise versucht, den über den Anschluss fließenden Strom bereits auf mehrere Bewehrungsstäbe zu verteilen. Dazu sind entweder die kreuzenden Stäbe zu verschweißen oder es sind direkt Anschlüsse an zwei Bewehrungsstäbe herzustellen. All dieses bedeutet einen hohen Aufwand bei der Freilegung der Bewehrung und auch wieder bei der Schließung der entstandenen Betonlöcher. Es soll deshalb hier untersucht werden, ob es beispielsweise zum Zwecke des Blitzschutz-Potentialausgleichs und auch zur Überbrückung von Dehnfugen ausreichend ist, den Anschluss an die Bewehrung nach einfachen Verfahren nur jeweils an einen Bewehrungsstab herzustellen. Damit würde der finanzielle und administrative Aufwand an Betonarbeiten deutlich reduziert. Die hier dargestellten Verfahren sind dabei insbesondere für den Einsatz bei Blitzschutz-Ertüchtigungen in bestehenden Gebäuden vorgesehen. Abschließend sollen deshalb die Möglichkeiten zur Prüfung korrekter Anschlüsse, die Grenzen der Verfahren sowie auch die Grenzen der Anwendbarkeit bei Neuanlagen diskutiert werden.

N2  - Netz-autarke Anlagen bestehen üblicherweise aus einer oder mehreren Photovoltaik- (PV-) Anlagen, ggf. auch Solarthermie- (ST-) Anlagen und einem oder mehreren kleineren Windgeneratoren (sie werden deshalb auch als Hybridanlagen bezeichnet) und werden vor allem in Gegenden mit sehr schlechter öffentlicher Energieversorgung eingesetzt, d.h. insbesondere in rel. dünn bewohnten Gebieten und in Entwicklungsländern. Der Blitzschutz von netz-autarken Hybridanlagen ist ein bislang noch vergleichsweise unzureichend bearbeitetes Fachgebiet. Für große Windenergie-Anlagen (WEA) wurde in den letzten Jahren eine Zahl von FuE-Projekten durchgeführt, zum Großteil finanziert durch die öffentliche Hand, zum kleineren Teil auch durch die Industrie, d.h. die WEAHersteller. Dabei wurden bestehende Defizite im Design der WEA festgestellt und Maßnahmen vorgeschlagen, die vor den mechanischen Zerstörungen insbesondere des Rotors und vor den Störungen und Zerstörungen an den elektrischen / elektronischen Systemen der WEA weitgehend Schutz bieten [1, 2, 3]. Der Stand-der- Normung ist im Entwurf DIN VDE 0127 Teil 24 „Blitzschutz für Windenergieanlagen“ (dt. Übersetzung des internationalen Drafts IEC 61400-24 „Wind turbine generator systems; Part 24: Lightning Protection“) dokumentiert [4]. Die Maßnahmen sind allerdings insbesondere für größere WEA vorgesehen; im Falle kleinerer WEA lassen sie sich nur bedingt umsetzen. Trotzdem sind auch kleinere WEA rel. stark blitzeinschlaggefährdet, wenn sie auf einer Bergkuppe o.ä. platziert werden. Für solche kleinere WEA, wie sie bei Hybridanlagen üblicherweise Verwendung finden, müssen die Blitzschutzmaßnahmen aus der DIN VDE 0127 Teil 24 angepasst werden. Für PV- und ST-Anlagen ist eine entsprechende Blitzschutz-Norm noch nicht in Sicht. Hier ist vor allem der Schutz gegen direkte Blitzeinschläge in die Anlage bzw. die Gebäude noch nicht ausreichend beachtet. Blitzfangeinrichtungen sind oft nicht vorgesehen. In aller Regel hat man dabei bisher eine Ausführungsform des Blitzschutzes realisiert, die primär einen Ferneinschlag berücksichtigt und die dabei entstehenden induzierten, rel. energieschwachen Überspannungen durch schwächere Schutzelemente wie Rückstromdioden, Bypassdioden und zum Teil thermisch überwachte Varistoren begrenzt [5, 6, 7]. Diese Schutzelemente können allerdings bei Naheinschlägen bzw. Direkteinschlägen überlastet und damit zerstört werden. Darüber hinaus können Nahoder Direkteinschläge auch zur Schwächung der elektrischen Festigkeit der PVModulisolierung führen. Die Folge davon sind lokale extreme Wärmeentwicklungen, die sogar ein Schmelzen von Glas (sekundärer Langzeiteffekt) hervorrufen könnten. Bei einem Blitzeinschlag in die netz-autarke Hybridanlage VATALI auf Kreta im Jahre 2000 wurden sowohl einige mechanische wie auch elektrische Komponenten der Anlage zerstört bzw. zum Teil schwer beschädigt. Die Anlage VATALI besaß zum Zeitpunkt des Blitzeinschlags keinen wirksamen Blitzschutz. Der Gesamtschaden der Hardware belief sich auf ca. 60.000,- EURO. Die exponierte Stellung der Anlage auf einer Bergspitze stellte und stellt nach wie vor ein enormes Blitzeinschlag-Risiko dar, so dass auch zukünftig mit Blitzeinwirkungen gerechnet werden muss. Die Anlage wurde inspiziert, blitzschutz-technische Erfordernisse definiert und daraus Ertüchtigungsmaßnahmen abgeleitet, die mit überschaubarem Aufwand realisierbar sind.

N2  - In the year 2000 a direct lightning strike to the hybridsystem without power mains connection VATALI on the Greek island Crete results in the destruction and damage of some mechanical and electrical components. The hybrid-system VATALI was not lightning protected at that time. The hardware damage costs are approx. 60,000 €. The exposed site of the hybrid-system on top of a mountain was and still is the reason for a high risk of lightning strikes. Also in the future further lightning strikes have to be taken into consideration. In the paper a fundamental lightning protection design concept for renewable energy hybrid-systems without power mains connection and protection measures against direct strikes and overvoltages are shown in detail. The design concept was realized exemplarily for the hybrid-system VATALI. The hardware costs for the protection measures were about 15,000 €. About 50% of the costs are due to protection measures against direct strikes, 50% are due to overvoltage protection. Future extensions, new installations, or modifications have to be included into the lightning protection design concept of the hybrid-system.

The designer uses semantical tools guaranteeing certain internal structures of the design result but also the fulfillment of various constraints. Two different approaches and corresponding tools are discussed: (a) Visually specified tools with automatic code generation to determine a design structure as well as fixing various constraints a design has to obey. These tools are also valuable for design knowledge specialist. (b) Extensions of existing CAD tools to provide semantical knowledge to be used by an architect. It is sketched how these different tools can be combined in the future. The main part of the paper discusses the concepts and realization of two prototypes following the two above approaches. The paper especially discusses that specific graphs and the specification of their structure are useful for both tool realization projects.

N2  - Alle Unternehmen sind vielfältigen Risiken ausgesetzt, die Finanz- und Betriebsbereiche einschließlich Dienstleistungen betreffen können. Die Firmen müssen üblicherweise Risiken eingehen, um im Wettbewerb bestehen zu können. Entscheidend ist, dass man sich über die Risiken bewusst ist, diese einschätzen und kontrollieren kann. Falsche Einschätzungen, Versäumnisse und Fehlentscheidungen können empfindliche finanzielle Schäden bis hin zum Totalverlust nach sich ziehen. Ein effektives Risikomanagement ist heute als wichtiger Sicherheitsfaktor anzusehen und sollte zur strategischen Unternehmensführung gehören. Ein vorausschauendes Risikomanagement beinhaltet, Risiken für das Unternehmen zu kalkulieren. Es liefert Entscheidungsgrundlagen, um diese Risiken zu begrenzen und es macht transparent, welche Risiken sinnvollerweise über Versicherungen abgedeckt werden sollten. Beim Versicherungsmanagement ist jedoch zu bedenken, dass zur Erreichung bestimmter Ziele Versicherungen nicht geeignet sind (z.B. Erhaltung der Lieferfähigkeit). Eintrittswahrscheinlichkeiten bestimmter Risiken lassen sich durch Versicherungen nicht verändern. Bei Unternehmen, die mit umfangreichen elektronischen Einrichtungen produzieren oder Dienstleistungen erbringen (und das sind heutzutage wohl die meisten), muss auch das Risiko durch Blitzeinwirkungen besondere Berücksichtigung finden. Dabei ist zu beachten, dass der Schaden aufgrund der Nicht-Verfügbarkeit der elektronischen Einrichtungen und damit der Produktion bzw. der Dienstleistung und ggf. der Verlust von Daten den Hardware-Schaden an der betroffenen Anlage oft bei weitem übersteigt. Im Blitzschutz gewinnt innovatives Denken in Schadensrisiken langsam an Bedeutung. Risikoanalysen haben die Objektivierung und Quantifizierung der Gefährdung von baulichen Anlagen und ihrer Inhalte durch direkte und indirekte Blitzeinschläge zum Ziel. Seinen Niederschlag hat dieses neue Denken in der neuen deutschen Norm DIN V 0185-2 VDE V 0185 Teil 2 gefunden. Die hier vorgegebene Risikoanalyse gewährleistet, dass ein für alle Beteiligten nachvollziehbares Blitzschutz-Konzept erstellt werden kann, das technisch und wirtschaftlich optimiert ist, d.h. bei möglichst geringem Aufwand den notwendigen Schutz gewährleisten kann. Die sich aus der Risikoanalyse ergebenden Schutzmaßnahmen sind dann in den weiteren Normenteilen der neuen Reihe VDE V 0185 detailliert beschrieben.

T1  - The restricted influence of kinematic hardening on shakedown loads
N2  - Structural design analyses are conducted with the aim of verifying the exclusion of ratcheting. To this end it is important to make a clear distinction between the shakedown range and the ratcheting range. In cyclic plasticity more sophisticated hardening models have been suggested in order to model the strain evolution observed in ratcheting experiments. The hardening models used in shakedown analysis are comparatively simple. It is shown that shakedown analysis can make quite stable predictions of admissible load ranges despite the simplicity of the underlying hardening models. A linear and a nonlinear kinematic hardening model of two-surface plasticity are compared in material shakedown analysis. Both give identical or similar shakedown ranges. Structural shakedown analyses show that the loading may have a more pronounced effect than the hardening model.

N2  - The paper deals with the development of the probabilistic approach to the assessment of risk due to lightning. Sources of damage, types of damage and types of loss are defined and, accordingly, the procedure for risk analysis and the way of assessment of different risk components is proposed. The way to evaluate the influence of different protection measures (lightning protection system; shielding of structure, cables and equipment; routing of internal wiring; surge protective device) in reducing such probabilities is considered. The paper has been prepared within the framework of the activity of IEC TC81-WG9/CLC TC81-WG4 directed to prepare the draft IEC 62305-2 Risk Management, in cooperation with the Secretary of IEC/CLC TC81.

N2  - In the paper a lightning protection design concept for renewable energy hybrid-systems without power mains connection is described. Based on a risk analysis protection measures against direct strikes and overvoltages are shown in an overview. The design concept is realized exemplarily for the hybrid-system VATALI on the Greek island Crete. VATALI, not lightning protected at that time, was a victim of a lightning strike in the year 2000 causing destructions and damages of some mechanical and electrical components with costs of approx. 60.000 €. The hardware costs for the protection measures were about 15.000 €: about 50% of the costs are due to protection measures against direct strikes, 50% are due to overvoltage protection.

N2  - In IEC 61312-2 equations for the assessment of the magnetic fields inside structures due to a direct lightning strike are given. These equations are based on computer simulations for shields consisting of a single-layer steel grid of a given mesh width. Real constructions, however, contain at least two layers of reinforcement steel grids. The objective of this study was to experimentally determine the additional shielding effectiveness of a second reinforcement layer compared to a single-layer grid. To this end, simulated structures were set up in the high current laboratory. The structures consisted of cubic cages of 2 m side length with one or with two reinforcement grids, respectively. The structures were exposed to direct lightning currents representing the variety of anticipated lightning current waveforms. The magnetic fields and their derivatives at several positions inside the structure as well as the voltage between “floor” and “roof” in the center were determined for different current injection points. From these data the improvement of the shielding caused by a second reinforcement layer is derived.

N2  - Solar sailcraft provide a wide range of opportunities for high-energy low-cost missions. To date, most mission studies require a rather demanding performance that will not be realized by solar sailcraft of the first generation.
However, even with solar sailcraft of moderate performance, scientifically relevant missions are feasible. This is demonstrated with a Near Earth Asteroid sample return mission and various planetary rendezvous missions.

Conceptual Design is defined before constructive design; the used concepts are more abstract. We develop two graph based approaches, a topdown using the graph rewriting system PROGRES and a more industrially oriented approach, where we extend the CAD system ArchiCAD. In both approaches, knowledge can be defined by a knowledge engineer, in the top-down approach in the domain model graph, in the bottom-up approach in the in an XML file. The defined knowledge is used to incrementally check the sketch and to inform the architect about violations of the defined knowledge. Our goal is to discover design error as soon as possible and to support the architect to design buildings with consideration of conceptual knowledge.

N2  - Recently, SHARP corporation has developed the world’s first “Plasma Cluster Ions (PCI)” air purification technology, which uses plasma discharge to generate cluster ions. The new plasma cluster device releases into the air positive and negative ions, which are harmless to humans and are able to decompose and deactivate airborne substances by chemical reactions. A lot of phenomenological tests of the PCI air purification technology on microbial cells have been conducted. And, in most cases, it has been shown that PCI demonstrate strongly pronounced killing effect. Although, the particular mechanisms of PCI action are still not evident. We studied variations in resistance to PCI among gram-positive airborne microorganisms, as well as some dose-dependent, spatial, cultural and biochemical properties of PCI action in respect of Staphylococcus spp, Enterococcus spp, Micrococcus spp.

N2  - Summary and Conclusions PCIs were clearly effective in terms of their antibacterial effects with the strains tested. This efficacy increased with the time the bacteries were exposed to PCIs. The bactericidal action has proved to be irreversible. PCIs were significantly less effective in shadowed areas. PCI exposure caused multiple protein damages as observed in SDS PAGE studies. There was no single but multiple molecular mechanism causing the bacterial death.
