N2  - Die Graphic Novel „Traumspiel“ erzählt eine kindgerechte Fantasiegeschichte zum Thema Traum. Ansatz des Projektes war die Frage, wie wohl eine Welt aussähe, in der Träume eine greifbare Entität darstellen. Ziel war es, diese Welt und eine dort spielende Geschichte zu erschaffen und beides visuell in einer Graphic Novel zum Leben zu erwecken.
In „Traumspiel“ werden Menschen unwissentlich nachts in ein Traumland entführt, wo ihnen die Träume als Marionettentheater vorgespielt werden. Erzählt wird die Geschichte eines Kindes, das auf diese Weise je einen Traum und Albtraum erlebt.
Die Illustrationen sind mit Tusche gemalt. Durch die Beschränkung auf drei Farben werden verschiedene Aspekte der Geschichte visuell unterschieden.
Entstanden ist eine Graphic Novel, in der alle konzeptionellen und gestalterischen Entscheidungen aufeinander aufbauen, um eine spannende Geschichte zu erzählen.

N2  - Recently, in his vision for space exploration, US president Bush announced to extend human presence across the solar system, starting with a human return to the Moon as early as 2015 in preparation for human exploration of Mars and other destinations. In Europe, an exploration program, termed AURORA, was established by ESA in 2001 – funded on a voluntary basis by ESA member states – with a clear focus on Mars and the ultimate goal of landing humans on Mars around 2030 in international cooperation. In 2003, a Human Spaceflight Vision Group was appointed by ESA with the task to develop a vision for the role of human spaceflight during the next quarter of the century. The resulting vision focused on a European-led lunar exploration initiative as part of a multi-decade, international effort to strengthen European identity and economy. After a review of the situation in Europe concerning space exploration, the paper outlines an approach for a consistent positioning of exploration within the existing European space programs, identifies destinations, and develops corresponding scenarios for an integrated strategy, starting with robotic missions to the Moon, Mars, and near-Earth asteroids. The interests of the European planetary in-situ science community, which recently met at DLR Cologne, are considered. Potential robotic lunar missions comprise polar landings to search for frozen volatiles and a sample return. For Mars, the implementation of a modest robotic landing mission in 2009 to demonstrate the capability for landing and prepare more ambitious and complex missions is discussed. For near-Earth asteroid exploration, a low-cost in-situ technology demonstration mission could yield important results. All proposed scenarios offer excellent science and could therefore create synergies between ESA’s mandatory and optional programs in the area of planetary science and exploration. The paper intents to stimulate the European discussion on space exploration and reflects the personal view of the authors.

N2  - This paper describes the development of a capacitively coupled high-pressure lamp with input power between 20 and 43 W at 2.45 GHz, using a coaxial line network. Compared with other electrodeless lamp systems, no cavity has to be used and a reduction in the input power is achieved. Therefore, this lamp is an alternative to the halogen incandescent lamp for domestic lighting. To serve the demands of domestic lighting, the filling of the lamp is optimized over all other resulting requirements, such as high efficacy at low induced powers and fast startups. A workflow to develop RF-driven plasma applications is presented, which makes use of the hot S-parameter technique. Descriptions of the fitting process inside a circuit and FEM simulator are given. Results of the combined ignition and operation network from simulations and measurements are compared. An initial prototype is built and measurements of the lamp's lighting properties are presented along with an investigation of the efficacy optimizations using large signal amplitude modulation. With this lamp, an efficacy of 135 lmW -1 is achieved.

N2  - This article introduces a new maritime search and rescue system based on S-band illumination harmonic radar (HR). Passive and active tags have been developed and tested attached to life jackets and a rescue boat. This system was able to detect and range the active tags up to a range of 5800 m in tests on the Baltic Sea with an antenna input power of only 100 W. All electronic GHz components of the system, excluding the S-band power amplifier, were custom developed for this purpose. Special attention is given to the performance and conceptual differences between passive and active tags used in the system and integration with a maritime X-band navigation radar is demonstrated.

Das Kompetenzgefühl, die Autonomie und die Verbundenheit zu betreuenden Personen stärken das Wohlbefinden. Das System führt die Nutzerinnen und Nutzer digital durch alle Phasen von der Vorbereitung bis zum Aufräumen. Aus den Elementen entsteht ein klar organisierter Arbeitsplatz ohne Ablenkungen und mit eindeutigen Aktionspunkten. Die Funktionen der Kocheinheit sind simplifiziert und bedürfnisgerecht angepasst.

Der Fokus liegt dabei auf der Typografie und ihrer intrinsischen Bewegung. Der technische Fortschritt bietet viele neue Möglichkeiten im Umgang mit Schrift. Diese Arbeit dient dazu, mithilfe von aktuellen Techniken einen neuen Ansatz im Bereich Gestaltung mit Schrift, sowie Variable Fonts, in Kombination mit Motion-Design aufzuzeigen. Dies wird anhand von Eigenschaften der Schrift und der inhaltlichen Ebene, ohne die Buchstaben dabei zu dekonstruieren, umgesetzt. Die Bewegungen werden dann in das Format Plakat übertragen und dargestellt.

N2  - The coupling of charged molecules, nanoparticles, and more generally, inorganic/organic nanohybrids with semiconductor field-effect devices based on an electrolyte–insulator–semiconductor (EIS) system represents a very promising strategy for the active tuning of electrochemical properties of these devices and, thus, opening new opportunities for label-free biosensing by the intrinsic charge of molecules. The simplest field-effect sensor is a capacitive EIS sensor, which represents a (bio-)chemically sensitive capacitor. In this chapter, selected examples of recent developments in the field of label-free biosensing using nanomaterial-modified capacitive EIS sensors are summarized. In the first part, we present applications of EIS sensors modified with negatively charged gold nanoparticles for the label-free electrostatic detection of positively charged small proteins and macromolecules, for monitoring the layer-by-layer formation of oppositely charged polyelectrolyte (PE) multilayers as well as for the development of an enzyme-based biomolecular logic gate. In the second part, examples of a label-free detection by means of EIS sensors modified with a positively charged weak PE layer are demonstrated. These include electrical detection of on-chip and in-solution hybridized DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) as well as an EIS sensor with pH-responsive weak PE/enzyme multilayers for enhanced field-effect biosensing.

Aber wie ist das heute? Sind diese Aussagen überhaupt noch aktuell bzw. relevant? Innerhalb der Publikation werden Kernthesen aber auch Textausschnitte aus ihrem Werk aufgeführt sowie aktuelle Artikel, die sich mit der derzeitigen Lage befassen. Durch das gestalterische Konzept innerhalb der Publikation, haben die Lesenden die Möglichkeit, sich konkret mit genau den Themen zu befassen, die jeweils dem persönlichen Interesse entsprechen. Die Publikation dient als Erinnerung und als Nachschlagewerk, um immer wieder lesen können, welche Kämpfe hinsichtlich der Gleichstellung der Geschlechter bereits gekämpft wurden und welche noch gekämpft werden müssen.

N2  - "[NON]HUMAN“ ist ein 3D-animierter Kurzfilm, der in einer Zombieapokalypse spielt und sich mit dem Thema der Menschlichkeit befasst. Welche Taten können gerechtfertigt werden und welche nicht? Die Handlungsmöglichkeiten der Menschen im Zuge des Ausbruchs eines neuen Virus werfen viele moralische Fragen auf, mit denen zwischen den Zeilen gerungen wird. Denn in diesem Film bestimmen sie Leben und Tod.
Das Ziel dieser Arbeit war es, eine simple Geschichte spannend zu erzählen, indem das Publikum durch eindrucksstarke Bilder gefesselt wird. Dabei eröffnen 3D-Animationen neue Möglichkeiten, die insbesondere in den Aufnahmen der zerstörten Stadt zur Geltung kommen. Diese Arbeit zeigt spielerisch, wie sich mit etwas technischem Know-How auch ohne großem Budget hochwertige Filme drehen lässt, indem man das Potential smart ausschöpft.
