N2  - Zahlreiche Einflussfaktoren haben in den vergangenen Jahren das Gesicht der Elektrizitätsmärkte stark verändert. Hierzu zählen vor allem die Einführung der ökonomischen Gesetze des Wettbewerbsmarktes durch die Liberalisierung sowie die nun kostenpflichtige Berücksichtigung des bei der Stromerzeugung hervorgerufenen CO2-Ausstoßes durch die Einführung des europäischen Emissionshandelssystems (EUTS). Die Folgen dieses Veränderungsprozesses lassen sich auf Grund der langen Investitionszyklen im Kraftwerksbau bisher nur unvollständig überblicken. Dies ist insbesondere im Hinblick auf die Versorgungssicherheit als Teil des energiewirtschaftlichen Zieldreiecks des § 1 EnWG von großer Bedeutung. Dazu zählt insbesondere, ob die Versorgungssicherheit in Deutschland bei gegenwärtigem Marktdesign auch dauerhaft gewährleistet sein wird. Es stellt sich heraus, dass es im Bereich der Spitzenlastkraftwerke zu Investitionen in gesamtwirtschaftlich zu geringen Umfang kommen kann. Dieses Investitionsdilemma beruht auf einem externen Effekt, der durch die aktuelle Ausgestaltung des deutschen Schadenersatzrechtes entsteht. Hierdurch ist die sichere Stromversorgung in Zeiten hoher Last potenziell gefährdet. Um die Wirkungen des Investitionsdilemmas abzumildern oder ganz zu beseitigen sind verschiedene Investitionsanreize durch entsprechende Ausgestaltung des EUTS denkbar. Diese werden im Einzelnen analysiert.

N2  - Nach der Bundestagswahl am 27. September 2009 steht der Atomausstieg in Deutschland wieder ganz oben auf der politischen Agenda. Eine aktuelle Bestandsaufnahme aller ma\geblichen Argumente erscheint somit zwingend notwendig. Dabei sollte der Blickwinkel nicht national beschränkt bleiben, sondern vor allem der Einfluss der europäischen Dimension dieser Thematik miteinbezogen werden. Auf europäischer Ebene zeigt sich eine Position zu Gunsten der Kernenergie. Unter den 27 EU-Staaten findet gerade eine Renaissance der Atomkraft statt. Die drei europäischen Organe befürworten den umfangreichen Einsatz der Kernenergie als langfristigen Bestandteil des Energieträgermix. Deutschland gehört mit seinem Beschluss zum Atomausstieg einer Minderheit an. Als Teil eines immer stärker zusammen wachsenden und letztendlich vollständig integrierten europäischen Strommarktes wird Deutschland langfristig stets mit Atomstrom versorgt werden. Dies gilt losgelöst von dem Einsatz von Kernkraftwerken im Inland. Eine Abschaltung der Anlagen führt damit nicht zur Zielerreichung der Atomkraftgegner, sondern lediglich zu zusätzlichen energietechnischen Herausforderungen bei der Sicherstellung der deutschen Stromversorgung. Der deutsche Atomausstieg sollte aus diesem Grund von der neuen Bundesregierung zurück genommen werden.

N2  - Dieser Artikel befasst sich mit dem Investitionsdilemma in der Stromerzeugung, welches in unzureichend ausgestalteten liberalisierten Strommärkten zu einem gesamtwirtschaftlich unerwünscht geringen Niveau an Versorgungssicherheit führt. Die originären Ursachen im deutschen Strommarkt liegen in einer eingeschränkten Schadenersatzpflicht der Lieferanten im Falle eines kapazitätsbedingten Stromausfalls und in der zeitlichen Differenz zwischen letzter Handelsmöglichkeit und Lieferung. Letzteres verhindert ein jederzeitiges individuelles Glattstellen von unerwartet auftretenden Ein- bzw. Ausspeiseänderungen. Des Weiteren führen Faktoren wie die fehlende Partizipation der Endverbraucher am Großhandelsmarkt, die nur undifferenziert mögliche Abschaltung von Endverbrauchern oder time lags durch lange Bau- und Genehmigungszeiten von Erzeugungskapazitäten in Verbindung mit über lange Zeiträume nicht versicherbaren Risiken bezüglich Brennstoff-, CO2-Zertifikate- und Strompreisen zu einer Verschärfung der Problematik. Sinnvolle Lösungsansätze sind zum einen die Erhöhung der Intraday-Handelsliquidität zur Verbesserung der Markträumungsfunktion bis möglichst kurz vor Stromlieferung, was z. B. durch eine Förderung der Direktvermarktung Erneuerbarer Energien erreicht werden kann. Zum anderen trägt ein verstärkter Ausbau von smart metern bei Endverbrauchern zu einer höheren Versorgungssicherheit bei, da dies die Glättung von Lastspitzen und die Artikulation der tatsächlichen Zahlungsbereitschaft von Endverbrauchern am Großhandelsmarkt ermöglicht.

N2  - As the potential of a Next Generation Network (NGN) is recognized, telecommunication companies consider switching to it. Although the implementation of an NGN seems to be merely a modification of the network infrastructure, it may trigger or require changes in the whole company and even influence the company strategy. To capture the effects of NGN we propose a framework based on concepts of business engineering and technical recommendations for the introduction of NGN technology. The specific design of solutions for the layers "Strategy", "Processes" and "Information Systems" as well as their interdependencies are an essential characteristic of the developed framework. We have per-formed a case study on NGN implementation and observed that all layers captured by our framework are influenced by the introduction of an NGN.

N2  - The downsizing of spark ignition engines in conjunction with turbocharging is considered to be a promising method for reducing CO₂ emissions. Using this concept, FEV has developed a new, highly efficient drivetrain to demonstrate fuel consumption reduction and drivability in a vehicle based on the Ford Focus ST. The newly designed 1.8L turbocharged gasoline engine incorporates infinitely variable intake and outlet control timing and direct fuel injection utilizing piezo injectors centrally located. In addition, this engine uses a prototype FEV engine control system, with software that was developed and adapted entirely by FEV. The vehicle features a 160 kW engine with a maximum mean effective pressure of 22.4 bar and 34 % savings in simulated fuel consumption. During the first stage, a new electrohydraulically actuated hybrid transmission with seven forward gears and one reverse gear and a single dry starting clutch will be integrated. The electric motor of the hybrid is directly connected to the gear set of the transmission. Utilizing the special gear set layout, the electric motor can provide boost during a change of gears, so that there is no interruption in traction. Therefore, the transmission system combines the advantages of a double clutch controlled gear change (gear change without an interruption in traction) with the efficient, cost-effective design of an automated manual transmission system. Additionally, the transmission provides a purely electric drive system and the operation of an air-conditioning compressor during the engine stop phases. One other alternative is through the use of CAI (Controlled Auto Ignition), which incorporates a process developed by FEV for controlled compression ignition.

N2  - The utilisation of vehicle-oriented gasoline in general aviation is very desirable for both ecological and economical reasons, as well as for general considerations of availability. As of today vehicle fuels may be used if the respective engine and cell are certified for such an operation. For older planes a supplementary technical certificate is provided for gasoline mixtures with less than 1 % v/v ethanol only, though. Larger admixtures of ethanol may lead to sudden engine malfunction and should be considered as considerable security risks. Major problems are caused by the partially ethanol non-withstanding materials, a necessarily changed stochiometric adjustment of the engine for varying ethanol shares and the tendency for phase separation in the presence of absorbed water. The concepts of the flexible fuel vehicles are only partially applicable in the view of air security.

N2  - The so-called "compound solar sail", also known as "Solar Photon Thruster" (SPT), is a solar sail design concept, for which the two basic functions of the solar sail, namely light collection and thrust direction, are uncoupled. In this paper, we introduce a novel SPT concept, termed the Advanced Solar Photon Thruster (ASPT). This model does not suffer from the simplified assumptions that have been made for the analysis of compound solar sails in previous studies. We present the equations that describe the force, which acts on the ASPT. After a detailed design analysis, the performance of the ASPT with respect to the conventional flat solar sail (FSS) is investigated for three interplanetary mission scenarios: An Earth-Venus rendezvous, where the solar sail has to spiral towards the Sun, an Earth-Mars rendezvous, where the solar sail has to spiral away from the Sun, and an Earth-NEA rendezvous (to near-Earth asteroid 1996FG3), where a large orbital eccentricity change is required. The investigated solar sails have realistic near-term characteristic accelerations between 0.1 and 0.2mm/s2. Our results show that a SPT is not superior to the flat solar sail unless very idealistic assumptions are made.

N2  - Solar-electric propulsion (SEP) is superior with
respect to payload capacity, flight time and
flexible launch window to the conventional
interplanetary transfer method using chemical
propulsion combined with gravity assists. This fact
results from the large exhaust velocities of electric
low–thrust propulsion and is favourable also for
missions to the giant planets, Kuiper-belt objects
and even for a heliopause probe (IHP) as shown in
three studies by the authors funded by DLR. They
dealt with a lander for Europa and a sample return
mission from a mainbelt asteroid [1], with the
TANDEM mission [2]; the third recent one
investigates electric propulsion for the transfer to
the edge of the solar system.
All studies are based on triple-junction solar arrays,
on rf-ion thrusters of the qualified RIT-22 type and
they use the intelligent trajectory optimization
program InTrance [3].

N2  - The absence of a general method for endotoxin removal from liquid interfaces gives an opportunity to find new methods and materials to overcome this gap. Activated nanostructured carbon is a promising material that showed good adsorption properties due to its vast pore network and high surface area. The aim of this study is to find the adsorption rates for a carboneous material produced at different temperatures, as well as to reveal possible differences between the performance of the material for each of the adsorbates used during the study (hemoglobin, serum albumin and lipopolysaccharide, LPS).

In which mainly, NO cause earlier protein denaturation, which means that, NO has a destabilizing effect on proteins, and also different ions will alter the protein denaturation in which, some ions will cause earlier protein denaturation while others not.

N2  - Prolonged operations close to small solar system bodies require a sophisticated control logic to minimize propellant mass and maximize operational efficiency. A control logic based on Discrete Mechanics and Optimal Control (DMOC) is proposed and applied to both conventionally propelled and solar sail spacecraft operating at an arbitrarily shaped asteroid in the class of Itokawa. As an example, stand-off inertial hovering is considered, recently identified as a challenging part of the Marco Polo mission. The approach is easily extended to stand-off orbits. We show that DMOC is applicable to spacecraft control at small objects, in particular with regard to the fact that the changes in gravity are exploited by the algorithm to optimally control the spacecraft position. Furthermore, we provide some remarks on promising developments.

N2  - Die ökonomische Abhängigkeit von fossilen Brennstoffen und der klimatische Wandel durch die Nutzung dieser haben zu einer intensiven Suche nach erneuerbaren Rohstoffen für die Produktion von Chemikalien und Treibstoffen geführt. Ein viel versprechender Rohstoff in diesem Zusammenhang sind Zucker, die mittels enzymatischer Hydrolyse aus Lignocellulose gewonnen und beispielsweise zu Ethanol umgesetzt werden können. Dabei ist es notwendig die Hydrolyse in Hinsicht auf das verwendete Substrat und die Verwendung der entstehenden Hydrolysate für die Fermentation von Alkohol zu optimieren. Als Substrat dienen Cellulose- und Hemicellulose-Fraktionen, die durch thermo-chemische Vorbehandlung von Holz gewonnen werden. Die Vorbehandlung erfolgt bei unserem Projektpartner am Johann Heinrich von Thünen Institut in Hamburg. Verschiedene kommerziell erhältliche Enzyme, thermostabile eingeschlossen, wurden auf ihre Fähigkeit hin untersucht, diese Fraktionen zu den entsprechenden Zuckern umsetzen zu können. Um die Konzentration an fermentierbaren Zuckern zu steigern werden verschiedene Optimierungen durchgeführt, z. B. die Erhöhung der Substrat- bzw. Enzymkonzentrationen. Ein weiterer interessanter Ansatz, welcher ebenfalls verfolgt wird, ist es die Hydrolyse und die Fermentation in einem Schritt durchzuführen.

N2  - Molke als Nebenprodukt der Käseherstellung wurde lange Zeit als Abfall betrachtet. Bedingt durch ihren hohen BOD (biological oxygen demand) war die direkte Einleitung in Gewässer, aber auch der mikrobielle Abbau in Kläranlagen bedenklich. Falls eine Weiterverarbeitung der Molke stattfand, so geschah dies meist zu Molkepulver oder Proteinkonzentrat. Als Untersuchungen der Molkeproteine jedoch unter pharmazeutischen Gesichtspunkten interessante Eigenschaften nahelegten, stieg das Interesse am Bioprodukt Molke und ihren Proteinen an. So stehen beispielsweise für die Molkeproteine a-Lactalbumin (ala) und b-Lactoglobulin (blg) antibakterielle, anticancerogene und diverse andere physiologische Effekte in der Diskussion. Gegenwärtig finden meist Membranverfahren zur Aufreinigung von Molkeproteinen Anwendung. Als alternatives Verfahren wurde am Institut für Bioverfahrenstechnik in Kaiserslautern ein chromatographisches Verfahren entwickelt, bei dem natürliche Tonminerale zum Einsatz kamen. Nach chemischer und physikalischer Modifikation des Ausgangsmaterials durch den Hersteller Süd-Chemie wurden drei der Adsorber für nähere Untersuchungen zur Auftrennung von Molkeproteinen aus Molkekonzentrat herangezogen. Nach einer Cross-Flow-Filtration des Molkekonzentrats erfolgte die Aufreinigung der Molkeproteine in einem FPLC-System.

N2  - This study demonstrates the feasibility of applying free-breathing, cardiac-gated, susceptibility-weighted fast spin-echo imaging together with black blood preparation and navigator-gated respiratory motion compensation for anatomically accurate T₂ mapping of the heart. First, T₂ maps are presented for oil phantoms without and with respiratory motion emulation (T₂ = (22.1 ± 1.7) ms at 1.5 T and T₂ = (22.65 ± 0.89) ms at 3.0 T). T₂ relaxometry of a ferrofluid revealed relaxivities of R2 = (477.9 ± 17) mM⁻¹s⁻¹ and R2 = (449.6 ± 13) mM⁻¹s⁻¹ for UFLARE and multiecho gradient-echo imaging at 1.5 T. For inferoseptal myocardial regions mean T₂ values of 29.9 ± 6.6 ms (1.5 T) and 22.3 ± 4.8 ms (3.0 T) were estimated. For posterior myocardial areas close to the vena cava T₂-values of 24.0 ± 6.4 ms (1.5 T) and 15.4 ± 1.8 ms (3.0 T) were observed. The merits and limitations of the proposed approach are discussed and its implications for cardiac and vascular T₂-mapping are considered.

N2  - In order for traditional masonry to stay a competitive building material in seismically active regions there is an urgent demand for modern, deformation-based verification procedures which exploit the nonlinear load bearing reserves. The Capacity Spectrum Method (CSM) is a widely accepted design approach in the field of reinforced concrete and steel construction. It compares the seismic action with the load-bearing capacity of the building considering nonlinear material behavior with its post-peak capacity. The bearing capacity of the building is calculated iteratively using single wall capacity curves. This paper presents a new approach for the bilinear approximation of single wall capacity curves in the style of EC6/EC8 respectively FEMA 306/FEMA 356 based on recent shear wall test results of the European Collective-Research Project “ESECMaSE”. The application of the CSM to masonry structures by using bilinear approximations of capacity curves as input is demonstrated on the example of a typical German residential home.
