Und wie kann man die Rettungskräfte unterstützen? „112–WENN HELFER HILFE BRAUCHEN“ bietet einen sachlichen Einblick in die Welt des Rettungsdienstes und der Ersten Hilfe. Mit kurz gefassten Fakten und Illustrationen richtet sich das Projekt vor allem an Jugendliche und junge Erwachsene. Ziel ist es, mehr Verständnis und Wertschätzung in der Gesellschaft für diese Berufsgruppe zu schaffen. Zusätzlich soll es die Leser*innen ermutigen, im Ernstfall angemessen zu handeln und „Leben zu retten“. Denn jeder kann in eine Notsituation geraten und auf den Rettungsdienst und Erste Hilfe angewiesen sein. Je früher man sich mit der Thematik beschäftigt, desto besser ist man im Ernstfall vorbereitet.

N2  - The recent amendment to the Ethernet physical layer known as the IEEE 802.3cg specification, allows to connect devices up to a distance of one kilometer and delivers a maximum of 60 watts of power over a twisted pair of wires. This new standard, also known as 10BASE-TIL, promises to overcome the limits of current physical layers used for field devices and bring them a step closer to Ethernet-based applications. The main advantage of 10BASE- TIL is that it can deliver power and data over the same line over a long distance, where traditional solutions (e.g., CAN, IO-Link, HART) fall short and cannot match its 10 Mbps bandwidth. Due to its recentness, IOBASE- TIL is still not integrated into field devices and it has been less than two years since silicon manufacturers released the first Ethernet-PHY chips. In this paper, we present a design proposal on how field devices could be integrated into a IOBASE-TIL smart switch that allows plug-and-play connectivity for sensors and actuators and is compliant with the Industry 4.0 vision. Instead of presenting a new field-level protocol for this work, we have decided to adopt the IO-Link specification which already includes a plug-and-play approach with features such as diagnosis and device configuration. The main objective of this work is to explore how field devices could be integrated into 10BASE-TIL Ethernet, its adaption with a well-known protocol, and its integration with Industry 4.0 technologies.

T1  - 10 years of liberalised telecom markets in Germany: Assessing the degree of competition on the markets for voice telephony
N2  - Market data for the German telecom market shows that Deutsche Telekom as the former incumbent is constantly loosing shares on all arkets for voice telephony: the market for local calls, the market for long-distance calls and the market for international calls. At the same time prices decline steadily with the latest trend being that operators offer voice services free of charge, the costs of which are covered by a monthly subscription charge. Against this background the paper examines the state of policy and regulatory reform in the telecommunications sector in Germany almost 10 years after the liberalisation of the fixed telecommunications market. Thereby the focus is on the analysis of the competitive conditions that have been established on the German market for voice telephony services. If these retail markets are competitive, there might be a need to remove remaining regulatory provisions. In the new environment of converging markets the future challenge of regulating fixed telecom markets might be to ensure that access to the network and/or services of a potentially dominant provider in a relevant market will satisfy requirements for openness and non-discrimination.

Es beinhaltet mehrere Schritte – die Broschüre bietet euch das benötigte Wissen für einen konstruktiven Diskurs. Zusätzlich sind Karten mit Fragen enthalten, die dazu anregen, sexistische Denkmuster und Verhaltensweisen im Alltag zu erkennen und zu reflektieren. Und schließlich zeigt es konkrete Aktionen auf, wie ihr selbst aktiv werden und euch gegen sexistisches Verhalten aussprechen könnt. Das Kit ist darauf ausgerichtet, dass Lehrende an weiterführenden Schulen es in ihren Unterricht integrieren können. Ihr könnt es jedoch genauso gut unter euren Freund*innen, Kolleg*innen oder anderen Interessierten nutzen, um eure Meinungen und Erfahrungen miteinander zu teilen. Unsaid ist ein weiterer Schritt, um Alltagssexismus zu bekämpfen und eine Gesellschaft zu schaffen, in der Gleichberechtigung und Respekt selbstverständlich sind.

N2  - The gene encoding a putative (R,R)-butane-2,3-diol dehydrogenase (bdhA) from Bacillus clausii DSM 8716T was isolated, sequenced and expressed in Escherichia coli. The amino acid sequence of the encoded protein is only distantly related to previously studied enzymes (identity 33–43%) and exhibited some uncharted peculiarities. An N-terminally StrepII-tagged enzyme variant was purified and initially characterized. The isolated enzyme catalyzed the (R)-specific oxidation of (R,R)- and meso-butane-2,3-diol to (R)- and (S)-acetoin with specific activities of 12 U/mg and 23 U/mg, respectively. Likewise, racemic acetoin was reduced with a specific activity of up to 115 U/mg yielding a mixture of (R,R)- and meso-butane-2,3-diol, while the enzyme reduced butane-2,3-dione (Vmax 74 U/mg) solely to (R,R)-butane-2,3-diol via (R)-acetoin. For these reactions only activity with the co-substrates NADH/NAD+ was observed. The enzyme accepted a selection of vicinal diketones, α-hydroxy ketones and vicinal diols as alternative substrates. Although the physiological function of the enzyme in B. clausii remains elusive, the data presented herein clearly demonstrates that the encoded enzyme is a genuine (R,R)-butane-2,3-diol dehydrogenase with potential for applications in biocatalysis and sensor development.
